This is the first Ellen Allien cd I bought (since it was the cheapest lol) But I am familiar with her other work. I would definitly say this isn't her best, but it really is not bad either. Ultimately this has a steady beat, and doesn't really drop you. Like the other guy before me, I really liked Modeselektor's song on this. What I got from listening to this cd straight through, is that I felt like it could have been taken a bit further, especially since I know the kind of straight up german techno Ellen can produce. But for the price I paid (couple dollars) I would recommend it if your already buying some other stuff, that way it can "tag" along with your other shipments.

I THINK IT WOULD BE UNFAIR TO JUDGE ELLEN'S TASTE IN MUSIC THESE DAYS BY THIS MIX CD. IF YOU WANT A CONCISE AND MORE RECENT ACCOUNT OF WHAT HER SETS CONSISTS OF AND THE TYPE OF MUSIC SHE IS PRODUCING THEN PICK UP HER FABRIC CD WHICH DROPPED IN MAY. THIS PARTICULAR CD WAS RELEASED IN 2004 AND I BOUGHT IT IN LATE 2005. THE CD IS VERY MUCH INFLUENCED BY THE ELECTRO SCENE THAT WAS STILL VERY FRESH IN EUROPE. MOST OF THE TRACKS ON THIS CD WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MODESELEKTOR'S RAVE ANTHEM HAVE NO SPECIFIC FOCUS. THERE IS NO ORIGINAL SOUND OR DIRECTION.

I DEFINITELY THINK THAT HER FABRIC CD DOES HER TALENT MORE JUSTICE.
