What a pleasure it's been to discover how this album improves with each listening. Great songs performed by a great voice. Several of these songs exist in better-known versions by other artists--but better-known doesn't necessarily mean better. Highlights include Ella's bittersweet rendering of "Ten Cents a Dance," the upbeat "Mountain Greenery," her slow, lyrical "Blue Moon." And her performance here of "Bewitched" is unsurpassed. That alone is worth the price of the CD.
The two that comes to mind on this CD is 'Isn't It Romantic' and 'Bewitched'. To me, these two songs were truly written for Ella Fitzgerald by Rodgers & Hart!!
I've listen to other performers singing 'Isn't It Romantic' like Tony Bennett, and he can not even come close to the special romantic feeling that Ella has for this song. Something that came directly from her soul!
Those two songs and the others are a good example why you should buy this album.
first time i had hear this record, it was a LP and at that time there were american cultural centers in paris, places where we can borrow books and records, not a great quantity but a lot of them not findable in france, others times ! and i am glad to have the voice of ella coming another time from the USA fivety years after, in her so kind "blue moon".And a lot of thanks to the seller who repair kindly and quickly a mistake.
What's not to like - wonderful voice, wonderful music and lyrics. I have the original long-play album recording. 2 records.
This is music that will live foreve
