40 Water came wit it on this album just like you thought he would, but still he never gets the credit he deseves. Breaking news came with that heat and E-40 let you know why he's the KING of the YAY. Haters gonna hate but this is not a dissappointment, pleasebelieveit! The game ain't about who's hot for right now but the longevity, and 40 been doin it for years! Breaking News is must have. A Bay Area collectors item.
"E-40 for president"
E40 does it again. I dont think this man can do a bad record. It's just that voice and how fast he spits, not to mention the new dictionary he's creating. "Breakin News" is just another classic by the E -- although it's not "Hall of Game Pt 2" that we're waiting for. Still, check out "Married to the Ave" with E making those psychotic siren sounds. Or the optimism of "I Hope You Get This Kite," a song of remembrance to the men behind bars. And E's got a talented young co-rapper named Turf Talk who appears on "I Got Dat Work" and "Gasoline." Then there's "Northern Califoolya" with a list of heavy-hitters guest-spitting, including Keak da Sneak, San Quinn, Messy Marv and the brilliant producer/artist Ea-Ski. The only disappointment is, like on "Grit and Grind", E's bad choice to include a dirty south styled crunk track, "Anybody Can Get It." Sorry, but Lil Jon's screaming does nothing for me. And I dont even know why Bone Crusher still has a career. Other than that, though, it's another gem in E-40's impressive catalog.
This is better than the previous Lp. Rick Rock does half of the beats and they are knockin' as usual. All guest hold it down also (Clipse, Bone Crusher, David Banner, B-Legit, E-A Ski, Turf Talk, etc.) This album you can listen straight through without skipping. E-40's lyrics are funny too and keeps you entertained. My favorite cuts- "I Got Dat Work", "Anbody Can Get It", "Act An Ass", and "I Hope YOu Get This Kite".
2nd best E-40 to date. Grit and Grind is a little better and I would reccemond that along with this and all E-40 albums. He is definently one of the better rappes among todays rap game. Every song on here is good.. Nothing is boring, strait fire every track. Check it out. Don't download it.. Buy 40 and represent!
I never really got into E-40 that much until recently, over the years, the only time i heard him was when he would do collabos with other artists like Master P, Twiztid, Mack 10, C-bo, Lil' Jon and the Eastside Boyz, and a couple of others.
I was expecting more of a West Coast vibe because his duos seem to lean towards more hardcore/gangsta rap, but his new CD was cruddy compared to other occasions that i heard him.
It was more mainstream rather than hard, with bubblegum mainstream pop/rap artist Clipse on a track gives me the wrong impression. Songs like "Hot" "Quarterbackin'" and that one song he does with the girl singer make the album seem soft and weak.
However, songs like "Breakin' News" "If if Was a Fifth" "Wa La" and that killer crunk song with Lil' Jon, Bone Crusher, and David Banner "Anybody Can Get It", pick up my interests for that album. Plus, E-40's rhymes and the way he raps can never be competed with. If you are a fan of E-40, then yes it is worth buying, but be aware that it isn't his best...you might be a little dissapointed.
