I was glad I picked this up instead of the very best of the doors available in US. this was an import with 2 discs. the reason i chose this over the single disc "very best of..." and "very best of... limit ed (with 5 remixes)" was that this had most of the songs from the original best of the doors and other songs that i couldn't find on one album. as i was listening to this, i was glad i shelled out the extra few bucks to get this import.
The 2nd disc is an enhanced cd for the computer. not much features except a short video and 5 pictures. pretty weak on the "enhanced" part, but i bought this album because of the music and not the enhanced parts.
hope you enjoy.
If the Byrds were the leading exponents in the West Coast rock scene from 1965 then The Doors certainly took things further when they arrived just 2 years later.
While not all their music is essential to me I find 4 tracks which are outstanding.
Hello I Love You and People Are Strange may not be their best known songs, but both have a way of speaking the thoughts a person does'nt always choose to verbalise.
Riders On the Storm has a massive sound which, to say the least, is intriging and possibly sinster.
The real blockbuster is Light My Fire with its strong vocals, organ solo and guitar solo, it's a powerfully melodic song which I never tire of hearing.
My dad played me this very cd one night and ever since i have been obsessed with the world of psychedelic rock! I was constantly listening to this every time i could, but sadly at some point my brother snapped the disc in half. I was devastated. I couldn't find a copy of it anywhere! Now I've finally found it again i'm not giving up, as well as my electric violin i'm defeniately getting another copy of this cd. The Doors are my favourite band ever. Thank you amazon!
The Doors are, in my opinion, the best group ever. They incorporated poetry, philosophy, classical music, and their own "twist" to all of the work that they did. No doubt this CD has some great works on it, and it with songs like "The End", it certainly has the ability to put you into an incredible state of mind, a trance even. If you are just looking for a good taste of the Doors, this is the CD for you, however, if you seriously want to get into their music and philosophy, buy the seperate albums, they have more of a theme or flow, they also expose you to everything, rather than just some popular picks.
I THINK SO THAT JIM MORISON,HIS FOREVER!!
