Review - AMG
Live at the Hollywood Bowl was one of a brace of official live Doors recordings that began circulating around in the 1980s, and had the distinction of being captured on film as well. Like Alive, She Cried, it covered ground that was missed by Absolutely Live, most notably familiar fare such as "Moonlight Drive" and "Unknown Soldier" -- unfortunately, the rendition of Willie Dixon's "Close to You" isn't among the group's better blues numbers, but otherwise this is a good companion to the other live archival issues of its era, although none of it holds a candle to the New York concert included in The Doors Box Set. [Live at the Hollywood Bowl was later combined with Alive, She Cried and Absolutely Live on the double-CD set entitled In Concert.] ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
