Review - Amazon.com
If you thought the Pogues were the only band to spike their punk with the Celtic spirit, you don't know the Dropkick Murphys. Granted, the Bostonians rock faster and harder, but the Old Sod still lives on in their tunes. On the Road features over four hours of Murphys madness. The six-part journey begins with an annual event, the boys live in Beantown on St. Paddy's Day (also available as an Epitaph CD). The playing is inspired, the crowd is pumped. That's not unusual for a rock concert. What is unusual are the step dancers, the punk-rock "Amazing Grace," and the tartan-sporting bagpipe player (Spicy McHaggis).

65 Days of Hell documents DKM on tour throughout the U.S. and Canada. They drink, they skate, they bowl--they play music, too. Behind the Scenes is a rambling look at the band around the world over the course of the years. Finland, Australia, Japan--you name it. The lads have fans wherever they go. Black and Gold is a quickie capturing DMK at a Bruins game. Then you get seven music videos, one ("Barroom Hero") featuring original singer Mike McColgan (replaced by Al Barr), and a short about DKM and their second favorite holiday (Labor Day). On the Road is 260 minutes of bliss for the Dropkick Murphys aficionado. All right everyone, repeat after me: "Let's go, Murphys!" --Kathleen C. Fennessy

- Irish Punk Rock At Its Best!!!

This is the best band dvd i have ever seen in my life. the dropkick murphys are my favorite band of all time. its just so cool how they take what the pogues were doing and take it to another level with the extreme streetpunk guitar riffs. The concert footage of the St. Paddys Day concert is terrific, it really shows you how much spirit and fun there is in going to a dkm concert. the music videos are great as well, you can only see the "gonna be a blackout" music video on the dvd that comes with blackout and this dvd. you cannot find it anywhere on the internet. i also love the 'black and gold' documentary because it shows how dkm is loyally dedicated to the boston bruins. overall, this is just a great concert dvd and a great collectors item for any dkm fan or streetpunk fan or just someone with lots of irish-american pride.

- Unlike anything that I have ever heard before

Dropkick Murphys play an amazing combination of loud hard angry music with bagpipes thrown in for good measure. :)

I realize that I am most likely much older than their normal fan base. So that goes to show you that they can appeal to all ages. You don't have to be a kid to like this band. You just have to have a rebellious streak, like I do, at times. It definitely comes out when I watch or listen to this band. They are loud and fun.

The St. Patrick's day concert alone is worth the purchase of this dvd. Buy this dvd. You may be pleasantly surprised, like I was the first time that I heard this band. :)

- Well worth the wait!

I've been a fan of DKM ever since I heard their demo version of Barroom Hero on the Give 'EM The Boot disc the day that cd came out. I've been to tons of DKM show, met and hung out with the band many times and i'm the street team leader for my area (which has been great fun). On The Road is 2 years in the making and it was well worth the LONG wait. I do however have a few complaints:

1. I have a Toshiba dvd player and the disc DOES NOT play in it. It's a older dvd player but it's quite odd that it doesn't seem to play in there. Luckly I have a PS2. 2. NO DC WARPED TOUR FOOTAGE. Almost ever show is featured except for DC. I would've loved to see some footage from that show and was hoping that i'd see myself or some friends on there including my friend who the band always let sing Time To Go. 3. Though I really can't complain about much else on the dvd I did have my hopes set on seeing some even older footage from the Do Or Die/Gangs All Here era. The band said 2 years ago there would be footage of that but there is none. I would've been nice to have some old footage with Mike and Rick. 4. The St. Patrick's Day show is cool but it's the same from the live album yet a few songs (Which Side Are You On?, Nutty, and Dirty Water are left off). Original plans were to feature more than one full show from St. Patrick's Day Weekend in 2002 and 2003.

I don't wanna sound ungreatful because there is plenty of stuff on this dvd to enjoy but I was hoping for some of that stuff mentioned. It's a great dvd and one of the most jam packed dvds out there and a great buy. BTW...anyone know how to find the hidden Easter Eggs/bonus footage?

- I owe them more money.

This DVD is packed with tons of footage. All of their videos, behind the scenes antics, stories from the road, slap fights and toilets that "shoot" back. I paid $13.99 for this gem, and I feel like I owe the band a couple more bucks. You will not be disappointed with it. I had the privilege to be in the audience for their Providence show that they feature in the "behind the scenes" portion of the DVD. It was great to relive that show. A great show indeed. My 3 year old son started a 1 man pit in front of the TV, during that segment. If you were a casual fan before this DVD, you'll soon be an avid fan of the Dropkick Murphys after you watch it. Well worth the wait; now wait no longer and buy it!
