This is a great album, a friend who lives in Spain and saw them sent me the CD and I'm glad he did. Lots of loud guitars, riffs and hooks, and the singer has a great/sexy voice. All the songs are good - no filler. Trying to compare them to something, the closest I could come up with is a bit like the heavier songs from the latest Hole CD.
Dover is an amazing band. The singer has an amazing sweet voice which completely contrasts the hard rock sound of the band. This is a must have album
Even thought Dover is a great band and has great music, they do not have much fame. In the US and Northern Europe most people don't know what this band is. If you are looking for a radical band to discover, this is it. Late at Night is their best CD of all. All the song are distinct and most songs are good, unlike their other CD's which had some good song but also bad ones. The weird thing is that they sing in English, but it isn't famouse at all in the English speaking countries such as US and England. On the other hand, it has tons of fans in places like Spain, Portugal, France, and others.
While it's true that Dover are a fringe band, their lack of fame and popularity in the Northern Hemisphere don't come close to the talent they have! They aren't "just" a heavy rock band, although that is their most apparent attribute. Songs like "Sick Girl", "Late at Night", "Cold" and others have a gentler rhythm to them. I'm blessed enough to have all the albums on cd and i'd recommend getting your hands on them any way possible. There's nothing like listening to Devil Came to Me before you head into college, or hearing the palling tone of Sick Girl and it's three chord strokes.
It's been advertised before, but www.dovercametome.com is still up and running, and you can listen to their new album (it's prolly their worst though :/) called The Flame. Check out the videos too!
I had already listened to Dover's former album, "Devil Came To Me", but I think that "Late At Night" is much more better. I love songs like "DJ" or "Cherry Lee". Dover are very popular in Spain, and I wish they become more popular in other countries.
