- My Heart

This is classic r&b by a wonderful new talent - an excellent debut. The mood of the disc is definitely mid-tempo to ballady songs but Donell's beautiful voice carries it well. I was also impressed by the fact that he wrote/co-wrote/produced and arranged 98% of this disc.

It's a shame it wasn't as heavily promoted as his 2nd disc was because as I listened, I don't recall hearing any of these songs. I like the fact that on this disc, he sings about the feelings of love and what's in his heart as opposed to the new jack "bump & grind" explicit lyrics that are staples in so many songs today (particularly male r&b artists).

My favorite tracks: I WANT YOU TO KNOW (beautiful love song), MY HEART; YOU SHOULD KNOW, KNOCKS ME OFF MY FEET (can't top Stevie Wonder but "A" for effort), IN THE HOOD (remix).

I'd highly recommend this disc to those who are seeking good r&b music with heartfelt lyrics & smooth grooves w/o sexually explicit lyrics.

- ..... Before "Where I Wanna Be", Donell had another CD

I asked "Tony", a reviewer that I have conversations about music with, whether Donell Jones' debut was worth picking up. He told me that he still listens to "My Heart" to this day. After hearing "Where I Wanna Be" which has my favorites, "Pushin'", "Where I Wanna Be", "Have You Seen Her" and "This Luv", I figured I should finally check out his debut CD. After finally purchasing it, I'm glad that I did. On his debut, Donell Jones has a more conservative approach than he did on his 2nd CD. On this CD, Donell is more laid back and his lyrics reflect that regardless of the song. On his 2nd CD, he appears to be more comfortable and "risque", almost like Joe. If you have heard, "All That I Am" and then listen to "My Name Is Joe", you'll notice the change in the conservative lyrics into a more sexual format, on the 2nd CD. Although, the formula of music is still the same. There are also more ballads on this CD as well, even though "Where I Wanna Be" has its fair share, as well. Donell does a brilliant rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Knocks Me Off My Feet". Although, the original is still better. My favorite songs on this CD are the title track, "My Heart", "No Interruptions", "Natural Thang", "Wish You Were Here", and "I Want You To Know". To anyone that is a fan of true R&B, you should not only have "Where I Wanna Be", but his debut CD as well. That way U can know what's up until his 3rd CD drops.

- Why did I wait so long to buy this? @}->---

I've been a fan of Donell for a little while now, but for some reason never got this cd. Why?? It's great. I bought it recently and really love it - as much as all the other albums of his. He's got a great smooth voice and the tracks on here are good for his voice. He sings with lots of emotion and he can belt them out when need be. I especially love Wish You Were Here, Believe In Me and Knocks Me Off His Feet. I'm telling you - as a fan of R'n b and of Donell, do not do what I did, and wait so long to get this. This should be mandatory listening. You'll love it too.

- One of the best

Donell Jones seems to have been swept under the rug when it comes to R&B. Too bad, if only people realized how good of an artist he really is. This album started the Donell Jones legacy and till this day i still play it all the time. One of the greatest R&B albums of the 90's, if not 'the' greatest in my opinion.

- Average Debut.

I think this cd is definetely a good buy, but dont expect to be suprised by any of these tracks. What you will hear is the usual "I Love you, dont leave type of tracks. But there are some gems on here. Check out "Waiting on You, My Heart, Yearnin and You Should Know. Good collection album. One Love.
