Review - Product Description
One of the handful of DJs to make the jump from mix tapes to the major labels, DJ Clue? hooked up with Jay-Z's Roc-a-Fella Records camp in the late `90s, then later created his own camp, Desert Storm Records. The Queens native built his reputation with street-level mix tapes and quickly became one of the city's leading DJs, graced with the latest tracks by the biggest names. Jay-Z invited him to join forces with Roc-a-Fella, who released Clue?'s major-label debut, The Professional (1997). The album featured primarily exclusive tracks, each boasting one of New York's top rappers, everyone from Nas and Mobb Deep to DMX and Ja Rule. A second volume followed in 2000, and in the meantime Clue? toured with Roc-a-Fella in support of Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life album as documented on Backstage (2000). He then embarked on his own path, establishing Desert Storm Records by debuting now platinum rap artist, Fabolous, in 2001. DJ Clue is the only DJ to have ever sold over 1 million units and earned an RIAA Platinum album certification.

- (3.5 Stars) Hey Dj....

Dj Clue has always been able to get the best of the best for his hip-hop 'mixtapes' despite the fact that he offers nothing more than his signature 'yells' for each of the songs. The Professional, Pt. 3 is no different than any of the previous installments that he's put out. Collabos are abundant, like the pairing of Lil Wayne's with Rick Ross and Ransom for "Clear The Scene," the Philadelphia trio of Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and Cassidy on "Liberty Bell," The Game and Mario Winans for both parts of "A Week Ago," and the obvious left-over track "You Don't Really Wanna" from Fat Joe and former Terror Squad member Remy Ma. But the one collaboration that will have you doing a double take is the Fabulous and Jagged Edge song "I Really Wanna Know," a song that basically covers Jodeci's classic ballad "Come And Talk To Me." Some good solo shots include Mobb Deep's "The Gold," "Da Boss" by Fabolous, and a resurfacing M.O.P. on "Giantz of NY." Some low moments are Snoop Dogg's "Almost F*cked," Young Jeezy and Juelz Santana's "F*ck Off," "Grill And Woman" from Mike Jones and Paul Wall, and a lackluster showing from The Lox with Jadakiss' "Ugly (Thug It Out)" and Styles P's "The Animal." Dj Clue has lost a lot of steam as far as sales goes, probably a direct result of the over-saturation of 'mixtapes' by fly-by-night deejays. But since Dj Clue started off that way, he knows he has to come correct with his own projects. And even though The Professional, Pt. 3 is not the best, it most certainly isn't the worst mixtape out here either.

- Another Pretty good mixtape from Clue ?

I have a good amount of Clue mixtapes (about 10) and this is like mos tof them, borderline 4 or 3.5 stars, some good songs, some ok and bad ones. With 18 songs, you get a lot of different rappers on here (around 25) and a god mix of music as well. Of the 18, 2 are almost classics, 1 I Skip, 7 or 8 are ok, and 7 or 8 are good. Other then 1 song, most are 2 or 3 verse songs, only 1 freestyle, but you still get Clue yelling over almost every track. Lioke most of his mixtapes you get a few R&B tracks as well. Production is good and bad. Clue handles half of the 18 (with help from Duro on 2), Swizz beatz, Kanye West, LT Hutton, Baby paul, Heatmakertz, Shatek, Develop, Chops, and Doughboyz all do 1 track. If you like mixtapes I'd recommensd this one but it's not the best.

#1 - 9 (16 bars from NAS)

#2 - 7 (Lil Wayne, Ransom of the A-Team and Rick Ross)

#3 - 6.5 (Juelz Santana f/ Young Jeezy)

#4 - 9 (Mobb Deep -- a song about robbing over a tight beat)

#5 - 9 (Jagged Edge f/ Fabolous (Remake of Jodeci's "Can I Talk To You" - same tight beat -- not much of an R& B fan but I liek Jodeci & Jagged Edge)

#6 - 8 (Mario Winas f/ Game -- ncie beat)

#7 - 5 (fabolous & Kanye West)

#8 - 6 (dirty song from Snoop Dogg f/ LT Hutton)

#9 - 7 (Paul Wall, Mike Jones & Bun B of UGK {only tight verse on here is his)

#10 - 8 (Beanie Sigel, Cassidy & Freeway)

#11 - 8.5 (fabolous)

#12 - 9.5 (Styles -- tight beat)

#13 - 7.5 (Camron f/ Juelz Santana -- nice beat)

#14 - 8 (M.O.P)

#15 - 7 (Remy Martin f/ Fat Joe)

#16 - 7 (Jadakiss f/ Sqizz Beatz)

#17 - 9.5 (Game f/ Mario Winans -- part 2 of #6 - same tight beat)

#18 - 7.5 (Consequence -- tight rapping bad beat)
