Between the fall of 2001 and the Summer of 2003 Dishwalla went on tour to promote their 2002 release Opaline. Produced by Gregg Wattenberg (Five For Fighting) and recorded in Los Angeles, the album proved relentless on the radio airwaves with the Top 20 hit, "Somewhere in the Middle." Touring Consistently for two Years, the band performed 258 shows in 470 days covering both ground and air. The performances were recorded live and these moments capture the band in what athletes call "the flow state." Dishwala was in the zone, redefining their boundaries and performing better than ever. Traveling with Navy Morale Welfare Recreation tour in Europe and North Africa on board the USS Nimtz only fueled the intensity of their performance. This live album is the result of a rock band doing what they love.
I was on the USS NIMITZ during Operation Iraqi Freedom when Dishwalla came onboard to promote this album. I was never a fan of their music, like most of the ship all I knew was that they had sung that "Tell me all your thoughts on God" song. But seeing as we were at sea with nothing else to entertain us for 9 months, I went to the concert. I, and most of the crew was blown away. I rushed out and bought most of their albums at the next port. I loved this CD because it reminds me of that concert. This band really is one of those bands that sound better live. Buy this CD.
This is an incredible CD. I have liked Dishwalla for years, and seen them in concert three times now, but this CD sets a new high for them. In particular, the jam that closes out track 10 could be listed to time after time. If I had one complaint about the CD, it is that the people whooping and yelling appreciation between songs distracts from the beautiful music, but that is a minor issue. And I can hardly blame them, considering the performance.
I have hundreds of CDs in my collection, by numerous artists, but if I had to take just 10 of them with me to a desert island, this would be one of the 10.
Of all the Dishwalla CDs, soundtracks and EPs, this is by far their greatest release to date. Maybe they should have called this CD 'Their Greatest Hits'!
I had never heard Dishwalla before. Then, on the internet radio I head Every Little Thing live... Awsome!!! Outta time, outta this world!
I ordered the CD instantly. I was scared instantly! What about the other songs? Were they any good??
I wished I could say I was relieved, but I wasn't... I was completely blown away!!!
Dishwalla were the hell were you all this years?!?!?!
Wish I met you before!
Now excuse me, I have to go and listen to it again, cheers!
I had heard parts of some Dishwalla albums, and a bootleg live recording that was awesome and I really loved them.
I bought this CD and the music inspired me so much, that I went and bought all 4 of the CDs showcased on it.
They are a great band; and yes some of the live 'stuff' is not as good as the original recordings, but, live (in my opinion) is often better.
I recommend this CD for your collection. If you think some of the mixing could be done better, then I'd whole-heartedly suggest that you go and buy all the Dishwalla studio discs!
You won't be disappointed.
5 Stars.
