Review - Product Description
Dionne was so hot on the pop charts in 1968 that she could afford to do such an avowedly noncommercial project as this tribute to her gospel roots! And those roots were deep; her mother, Lee Warrick, was a founding member of the Drinkard Singers, a gospel group that also included Cissy Houston (mother of Whitney), and Dionne got her start singing in a gospel group called the Gospelaires along with her sister Dee Dee.

- Dionne Goes Gospel with Compelling Results

What an excellent gospel record by Dionne Warwick.

She sounds right at home throughout this album and delivers some amazing operatics and hits some notes I'd never heard her hit before! I adore her version of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and wish she included more verses, but the chosen parts of the song coupled with her simple yet captivating arrangement is just bliss on the ears.

A MUST for all Warwick fans as well as those who enjoy heartfelt gospel music.

- Dionne Warwick:Early Gospel

This collection of some of Dionne's earlier recordings meant to show her Religious Influences is a treasure, mainly because they are not a competitive recapitulation of the un-disputed Queen of Gospel, Mahalia Jackson, (a very wise move to the credit of Dionne). Here Dionne chooses something very unique by her choice of background singers, more an accompaniment than a background choir which fits Dionne's selection of songs very well. The Effort Dionne puts forth here gives evidence of something very special to the heart of Dionne, not just a credit recording; something to boost Dionne's consumer base. They are a flavor all their own, not pressed or strained, or mis-fit, but something you can close you eyes to, and envision what heaven might be like, or at least a portion of it, lively and seemingly spontaneous honest praise to The Lord lifted straight from the heart. A very nice gift from Dionne, unfortunately for us, an all too rare offering. Enjoy this rare collection soon, and your spirit will be all the better for it.

- Dionne in the begining of her prime!!!

I have always enjoyed listening to "The Magic Of Believing". I received a copy of the LP when I was in high school. I am glad that most of all the Scepter years for Dionne is now on CD. Dionne does her best singing on "Old Landmark" & "Bless The Name Of The Lord". Enjoy the CD when you purchase it cuz I know that you will :)

- A must have!

I am not a gospel fan, but I am a fan of Dionne Warwick. While the CD is based on a recording from the 1960s, this version is done as well as it could be. Great vocals. The transaction was easy and fast.
