- Vintage 1969-1972 soul by Dionne...and it WORKS

If you ever wondered how Dionne would sound singing R&B tunes during the late 60's and early 70's, this set is for you.

She does a great job. These are not hardcore, gutbucket soul interpretations (although there are a few moments of soul belting when Dionne is feeling it). Rather, it is a well-balanced mix of classic soul and the laid-back elegance that Dionne is famous for. The arrangements are different enough that virtually all of these familiar songs sound fresh and never stale. The production by Chips Moman and Dionne(!) works perfectly.

Rhino Handmade has done another fabulous job on this wonderfully remastered limited edition set: tons of bonus tracks, tons of wonderful photographs from the period, and tons of informative liner notes from the illustrious David Nathan.

Fantastic stuff here, folks...don't miss it.

- Incredible Performance on Soul Music!

This is a cover album by Ms. Warwick on smash hits from soul music and pop. Simply one of her best albums.

The opening track is the impressive 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling'. And even the Beatles' originals 'Hey Jude' and 'We Can Work It Out' sound fresh and true.

I refer to the first 12 tracks of this CD which comprises the original album 'Soulful'. All other tracks in this CD are miscellaneous tracks taken from here and there. Never mind.

- Superb soul

Dionne Warwick is better known for her pop hits with a touch of soul, but this 1968 album is pure soul. This album of soul covers demonstrates her vocal power and superb interpretative skills. It's a real treat if you have never heard Warwick belt it out like this. An underrated gem.

- Takes me to another time yet ...

the lyrics and sounds are still so relevant. I LOVE this record - now CD. Dionne's voice and the songs of the 60's and 70's. I really am not a fan of her pop stuff even though I realize she's got a great voice. THIS is how I love to hear Dionne Warwick. Song after song every one is wonderful. I sing along and feel rejuvinated.

- Finally mine

I wish to have this LP since it was first issued many years ago.

I am delighted to have it on CD now.

I love every minute of every song.

Shame that it's not possible to purchase MP3 from my country so I have to turn to other providers.
