One word AWESOME!!! Disk one - Footage of Depeche Mode's Touring the Angel concert demonstrates the reason the band has been my absolute favorite for the last 15 years. Disk 2 has great clips of the band speaking about the album and their thoughts about their future together along with the tour announcement and other great extras. The bonus Playing the Angel Live CD is a definate must have for any DM fan. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who "Just Can't Get Enough" of DM like me.
a dazzling and rocking collection of audio and visual offerings from the immortal ones. Somehow they managed to hold onto their immense talents and continue to raise the bar. The songs are infused with fresh blood and the energy that Gahan brings to the picture is palpable. I am so glad that he survived to deliver yet another thoroughly satisfying mystical release with cohort Gore. Keep the magic coming, boys. You've tapped into something quite cool and lasting.
This is by far the most enjoyable dvd by DM. Yes i am sure that Devotional DVD and Exciter DVD were great but in terms of denstiy and powerful, it seems that this dvd is better, Anton is great for making music video but i don't think he is good for live performance as the camera angels in Devotional DVD and Exciter DVD looked plain and focus too much on the screens and stage (which he designed). Yes, i agreed with other reviewers that there're a bit too much of effect on this
dvd but that's the way of making live dvd nowadays.
However, i have to admit that the performace of 'Personal jesus','Enjoy the silence' and 'Never let me down again' these 3 all times in set list in this dvd aren't better than the versions in Exciter dvd which more enjoyable.
Great tracks : A question of time,Policy of truth,Behind the wheel,World in my eye and Walking in my shoes
Highlight : Just can't get enough and Everything counts (Remind me how great these old synth pop songs can be grown and sound so much fresh after 25 years).
After all they've been through these almost 30 years since they first came on the scene,
it's great to see them back onstage and performing in near top form!
There are plenty of hits represented on here from "Violator", "Songs Of Faith & Devotion",
"Exciter" and others past albums as well as a real blast from the past when they perform
the synth-poppy early 80's hit "I Just Can't Get Enough", which they always say they hate to play.
I prefer the DVD to the CD in this set just because I like to match the visual to the music,
but my partner says that the CD sounds great in his car. This is a definite must have for
Depeche Mode fans or fans who never got to see them live in their hey-dey!--Good stuff!
...and this is NOT a bad purchase. This is a beautiful-possible-final document of one of the GREATEST Pop/Rock bands of ALL time. I read a 'bad' review or 2 before purchasing this, and as usual-review's tend to suck-pardon my english-but they do-thus the point of me writing this.
For a Depeche Mode fan....a 'real' one anyway, nothing Depeche Mode has ever done really was a disappointment, so the review's that slander the very dependable name of DM I tend to take with a pound of salt-and I am glad I did.
The gig is actually one of the best i'v seen on video from ANY band. The setlist is very good, and Dave's voice is splendid as well as Martin getting his much deserved 'spotlight time' as well (although, he could do without the feathered/silk Roman head gear :/ )!
Anyway, I could ramble on of it's greatness or you can simply take my word-I rarely review anything, but I felt this item needed some justification. Don't settle for the DVD only, get the Ltd. Edition....SO worth it.
Enjoy!
Love-A very devoted fan.
