- The best source of live deep purple available!

The answer to all bootlegs! This is a must-have set containing the best live recordings from 1984-2000. There are 6 shows as follows; 1) "Highway Stars" from Adelaide in November 1984. A good sound quality nervousbut an initially performance from a band that had just reformed. Features all the old favourites, Child in Time, Smoke on the Water and Highway star alongside fresh material from the Perfect Strangers release. "Third Night" comes from a June 1985 Swedish performance and features a high quality sound and very good performance with a slightly shorter track list than the Adelaide show. "Hungary Days" is one of the better 1987 performances by Deep Purple and this cd culls the best from the 3 nights that they performed in Budapest. Features material from the House of Blue Light album and the usual classics. "In your trousers", taken from the 13th of November performance in Stockholm, showcases the new Battle Rages On material with most of the old classics and a surprise rendition of "Anyone's Daughter". The sound quality is awesome! "Purple Sunshine" introduces the new Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse in March of 1995. The energy of the music in this performance is staggering. Old classics have new life breathed into them and Purple take the opportunity to road test some new material in the form of Ted the Mechanic and the Purpendicular Waltz. The sound is fantastic and to hear When a Blind man Cries played this well is worth it alone. The final offering in the set is "Made in Japan 2000" and sees Purple return to the scene of one of their greatest and best known recordings (Made in Japan). Recorded in January of 2000 in Osaka the band belt through a back catalogue of songs including Smoke on the Water, Perfect Strangers, Woman from Tokyo, Black Night, Speed King and a hitherto unplayed favourite (of mine actually!) Fools. This is interpolated with new material from the Abandon album and the sound is phenomenally good.

To sum up, this is a box set of Deep Purple at their best and is for Deep Purple fans and people who have heard the name and would like to know what all the fuss was/is all about. Turn up the volume, sit back and find out!!!!!!!

- BEST LIVE BAND AROUND

Having read the previous reviews that stated the sound quality on some of the CD's was bad, I still ordered it, expecting the worse. What a surprise, the sound quality on all the CD's is at least Very Good!! If you are a collector of Deep Purple, this collection ia a "must have". All of the CD's with Ritchie are better than the official release, "Nobody's Perfect" recorded in 1987. The best surprise is the 6th CD, Live in Japan. Gillan sings great, and the rest of the band are fantastic!!

- Great boxed set! Must have for fans!

OK: 6x2 CD's digitally mastered.

The sound is great, it's hard to tell it's a bootleg. Working as a DJ and in a record store I get to listen to A LOT of bootlegs. 99% of these are completly useless. HOWEVER, this compilation is an exception to the rule. It is truly Deep Purple at their best - as always :)

- Lousey Live Recordings

As a collector of Deep Purple music since 1971, I find this "bootleg" set just that, a bootleg set. Just because it is a management release does not mean it is good. I purchased it because of the set lists and songs not done live on previous live recordings. This has no better sound quality because it as been mastered. Live in Japan 2000 has about the best sound quality but you can't hear Ian Gillian singing. Buyer beware!!!
