I am a big fan of the Cruxshadows. So when this CD came out I had to get it. I love the song Birthday and I like the remixes. It is such an uplifting song for me. But the highlight was the redone version of "White Rabbit." Rogue's voice is so haunting in that song, its awesome. I've never heard the Jefferson Airplanes' version though. I just wish that song was longer.
Anyway, it was a good EP, and I'm glad i got it. for those who have never listened to the CXS before I wouldn't recommend it. I'd suggest getting one of their full length albums, like Wishfire or DreamCypher.
This is the song that got me to listen to more of there music. I love this group.
While "Birthday" is not my favorite track off of
, it is a very good song. The lyrics about making choices with your life before it is too late are relevant to everyone. Plus, the Cruxshadows continue to do what many artists have stopped doing - putting bonus tracks on their single release CDs. "The Eighth Square" is a great dance track with unusual lyrics. And, it is nice to finally have the concert only track, "White Rabbit," available.
Another bonus to the single releases are "edit" versions. Sometimes Cruxshadows' songs are a little too long (topping 7 minutes or more), especially if you're making your own mix CD. So, their EPs and singles offer shortened versions of great songs. The remixes for "Birthday" are also well done. If you're a fan of CXS, buy this now. But casual listeners will also find this a worthwhile choice. Highly recommended.
Birthday is my favorite song off of their Dreamcypher CD, the remixs are good and hopefully this song will go to number 1 again.
