- 10Early Morning Mood [*]
First of all I love Chet Bakers music; especially his early sound. I believe Chet to be one of the greatest trumpeters of our time and a very capable crooner. This album definitely falls in the classic slow jazz category. I likw to call this sound "fireplace jazz". Perfect for intimate rondevous with wine, dim lights and a warm fire. This album is the ideal romance/date album.
Right from the beginning all the way until the end, nothing but cool smooth jazz. Even when he picks up the tempo a bit on songs like "Time on My Hands" it never shifts the mood of the album. The instruments though faster dont get louder and drown out your own thoughts or feelings. One other thing Chet uses alot of piano and incorporates it with the piano so the two compliment each other. Just listen to the intro of "Alone Together" and "You and the Night Music" and see how they make the songs more meaningful.
