The story of the Jazz in the Fifties certainly would be remain unfinished without the ominous presence of this outstanding virtuoso. Baker sound still possesses this alluring hook, this magnetic engagement charm, eloquent expressiveness, enrapturing lyricism and contagious rhythm, despite the elapsed time, which confirms by itself the status of his musicianship.
This selection is jus a little sample of the broad universe of his genius. A well thought selection of great musical successes, available, preserved and immortalized by the Digital Technology for our future enjoyment.
Absolutely indispensable in your treasured collection.
Chet Baker's voice was unique. He has very little vibrato yet he uses his vocal stylings and tone the way he used his horn -- smoothly and economically. I like his syncopation, and his choice of material. I really like the other musicians on this cd - all talents on their own. I think I first heard one of his songs on the soundtrack to LA CONFIDENTIAL, which is a great introduction to 1950s -era smooth jazz. It is a very cheerful recording and yet bittersweet because of Baker's early demise. It's pretty great to hear it. Right up there with my other favorites.
I was concerned about the sound quality of the Chet Baker CDs I bought.
They're as good as a CD should be. Very Happy I was able to find them (2).
liked baker's playing and choice of tunes . would recommend this to everyone. wich he was still around today. excellent.
