Análisis - Product Description
All the tracks of the diva's 'Take Me Home' and 'The Prisoner' albums on one budget priced CD. 'Take Me Home' was her first foray into dance music, but being a rocker at heart, she didn't capitalize on that success until much later in life. It's follow up, 'Prisoner' took her more in the direction her heart told her to follow.

- DISCO AND NEW WAVE CHER

These two albums are actually quite good. Take Me Home especially. From that wild cover photo to the discofied grooves inside this album rocks. And yeah, it has a couple slower songs, 3 to be exact and they are, in my opinion, (take that for what it's worth) some of her best. Does this sound dated today, sort of. Take Me Home, Wasn't It Good and Say The Word all have disco strings and beats, but if you liked it then, you'll like it now.

Git Down Guitar Groupie is kind of goofy, but it's fun, and has a cool melody. That's one of my favorites on the album.

Prisoner is not so much disco as it is new wave. By the time this came out disco was dead and new wave was just beginning. So what does Cher do, changes with the times and records a new wave sounding album. CHeck out Mirror Image and Boys and Girls. They are two really good examples of what I am talking about. Hell ON Wheels is the closest this album comes to disco. It's kind of like Hot Stuff by Donna Summer. It marries a disco beat with hard rock guitars. This was the single and it is a great song. The title song is kind of funky and could have been another hit. Holdin' Out For Love is pure pop. Nice song. Now...having said all those good things I need to point out that Shoppin, Outrageous, and Holy Smoke are downright CHEESY. OMG. Shoppin is probably the worst song I have ever heard. Holy Smoke and Outrageous aren't as bad but close. Beware.

- TAKE NO PRISONERS HOME !

This compilation is a combination of two vinyl releases. Both albums (PRISONER and TAKE ME HOME) come directly from the vaults of the disco era in the late 1970s. CHER did achieve a top 5 DISCO hit with the a Maxi 12" inch version of the single "TAKE ME HOME". You will also be able to audition the single released from PRISONER. That title track never managed to chart. As her fan base dropped in the late 1970s, Cher began to paint herself as a "ROCK ARTIST" supplying lead vocals to the one album band "BLACK ROSE". Unfortunately, this cd is filled with weak material. It would be a better option for consumers to purchase the cd "BILLBOARD's TOP DISCO 1978". On that compilation you find the CHER single TAKE ME HOME plus various others artists.
