It's been over nine months now that this cd was released and i'm still listening to it like if it were brand new.

These songs are just so diferent and off the wall from everything else it's incredible. I love this guy for his gutsy ways and for taking a chance not many would with this kind of music were everyone kinda sticks to the norm in the genre; (not that that's bad either cuz there's a lot of great reggaeton out there).

Calle 13's songs crack me up cuz of the way he rhymes and puts things together. Even the names are funny, "El Residente y El Visitante", I mean why stop there? How about El Vendedor y El Comprador??? Hee Hee. I have a million of these. This stuff is great.

I will say that he does get carried away with the bad words a little. But his songs are funny, and his videos are hilarious!

On the same note i have to say that the guy is also very political at times in some songs. I like, i like.

Compre este CD hace unos dos dias y desde que lo puso en mi carro no e dejado de escucharlo, supe de Calle13 el Residente hace como 3 meses atras por que no sabia quien era Soy de la isla pero supe de el hace un tiempo y le dejo saber que este Hombre en Lirica y Flow no hay Dios quien lo detenga a pesar que no tiene Productores de mucho nombre se botaron en los Beat y su estilo de la calle es peculiar y comico a la vez por que habla de la vida real y el estilo de habla de los Puertoriquenos en General escuchen la 11 y la 14 y veran por que hasta le tira a PDiddy y con esa se boto si quieren escuchar un Rap/Hip Hop y un poco de Regeatton callejero les recomiendo al Residente por que no se van a desepcionar

Calle 13 isn't exactly reggaeton, as the beats alone are nothing like anything you'd hear on a Wisin & Yandel or Don Omar album. Even though songs like "Se Vale To-To" are explicit lyrics over a dembow beat, most of the album doesn't follow that sound.

Residente raps about everything from food to sex, and sometimes both. His lyrics are funny and lighthearted, but without following the same formula as most reggaetoneros. The production is also what makes this a classic album. Visitante's beats include sounds ranging a fusion of Jewish Klezmer and Cumbia (Atrévete te te) to the classic orchestra on one of my favorites "La Jirafa."

The only thing I would have done differently with this album was include "Querido F.B.I.", the song that helped put Calle 13 on the map in P.R. before Atrévete te te became a massive hit. I can understand why Sony BMG left such a politically-charged song off of a fun album, but it's a reminder of how much Hip Hop is grounded in expressing frustrations about society.

Whether you want to call it Reggaeton or Spanish rap, this debut album by Calle 13 is one of my favorites. There's a song on this album to fit almost any mood, and it's refreshing for artists to offer us something so different.

If you are into urban music, quick and clever rhymes and just good booty shaking music then you will love this CD. You will fall in love with Renee's voice and maybe him... ;)

I think you should get it. Try it. You won't regret it.

No soy un fan ni del rap ni del reggaeton. Son muy pocas las canciones que me gustan en estos generos. Atrevete-te-te es una de ellas . Desde la primera vez que vi el video, me llamo la atencion. Me gusto la mezcla en la musica, el ritmo me parecio muy pegajoso y la lirica ingeniosa y divertida. Pense que Calle 13 seria como otros tantos duos del genero, con un par de canciones pegadas y nada mas. Entonces un dia los vi en concierto, casi de casualidad. Descubri que Visitante toca mas de un par de instrumentos y Residente no solo sabe rimar sino que es un verdadero front man, ya que logro mover a un gran grupo de gente que en su mayoria no habian ido a ver a Calle 13. Escuche muchos ritmos mezclados y mas de un par de canciones que sonaban interesantes, asi que decidi comprarme el CD de ellos y darles una chance. Que sorpresa me he llevado. Nunca imagine que el Cd pudiera ser tan bueno. Para un genero que aveces tiene la mala fama de ser repetitivo, Calle 13 realmente marca la diferencia. Creo haber escuchado todo, desde rock, funk, reggae y ritmos latinos fusionados con esas rimas tan contagiosas de Residente. La musica del album me gusta casi en su totalidad. Es mas, se puede decir que tengo 10 canciones favoritas en el album. Tal vez mejor digo que las unicas canciones que no me gustan tanto son; Sin Coro y Madre de los Enanos, el resto van de bien en mejor. Eso respecto a la musica, pues las rimas de Residente son infalibles. Es cierto que los sensiblones se pueden ofender, pero en mi opinion aun cuando usa malas palabras, estas estan dentro de un contexto y hasta un estilo propio de Residente. Es honesto y directo, gracioso e ingenioso en su uso de rimas. Mi opinion es que si no tocas ningun instrumento y tampoco cantas y tu funcion primordial es rimar al ritmo de una musica, pues haslo bien. Residente lo hace mas que bien. Ahora que el reggaeton esta establecido, es hora de que aparescan mas grupos como Calle 13, que eleven las exigencias al genero. Sino, sera esperar a que salga el nuevo CD de Calle 13.
