This is a great live recording CD by the legendary Canadian rock singer-songwriter Bryan Adams, titled , 'Bare Bones'. It is aptly described as the songs were recorded with only acoustic guitar, sometimes accompanied by keyboard/piano (Gary Breit), vocals, hand clappings & harmonica on "I'm Ready" as well as on "Straight From The Heart". The inspiration for this recording springs from the 'Unplugged MTV' recording he did as well as encouragement from his fans who enjoyed this style of music presentation (quite very personal/intimate but yet simple), so says Bryan Adams. CD does show Bryan Adams's versatility as a great live performer of note! It's a great performance, has great production & it's a CD that most of his fans will enjoy immensely. This 1 CD release has 20 songs (released today 11/16/10) as compared to the CD deluxe package/digipak (Deluxe Edition, described as for Bryan Adams' greatest fans) hit the market on 11/30/10. This CD opens very well with "You've Been A Friend To Me", great acoustic guitar, piano & vocals. One can feel that the audience are enjoying the great live performance. "Here I Am", continues the theme : great acoustic guitar, piano & vocals. "I'm Ready", has flute in addition to the usual acoustic guitar & piano. "Let's Make A Night To Remember", "Ain't A Party (If You Can't Come 'Round)" & " Everything I Do) I Do It For You", again great perfomance by Bryan Adams. "Cuts Like A Knife" & " It's Only Love" are from his earlier years (his rather hard rock days, rather challenging tracks to do live without a full band), but he manages to bring them very well (studio recordings/full band rather far better than these 2 tracks). "Please Forgive Me" (at the end of the song he does imitate Bruce Springsteen's voice quite well, with the fans in stitches!), a solid ballad, well executed live performance. "Summer Of 69", is certainly one of the fans favourite live performed tracks : he does not disappoint, great acoustic guitar chords & string pickings. "Walk On By", from his 2008 CD release "11" : has beautiful guitar string pickings & great vocals, as only Bryan Adams would. "Cloud Number Nine", has great vocals. "Heaven", "Straight From The Heart", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "You 're Still Beautiful To Me" are great tracks, Bryan Adams is certainly on the roll, a solid performance. "I Still Miss You ... A Little Bit ", is great jazzy track, great guitar, great vocals & hand clappings by the excited live audience (he proclaims he wrote this song for the late Ray Charles) .
In " All For Love", Bryan Adams is able to give great vocals (original studio recording had Sting, Rod Stewart & Bryan Adams singing as a trio), the other two singers are not missed because he gives a great vocal performance! On overall, this is a solid performance 1 CD (20 tracks) release by the talented Bryan Adams, recorded during 2008 & 2010 'Bare Bones Live Tour', a great selection of hits & performance, a highly recommended listening.
I recently had the good fortune to see Bryan Adams on his Bare Bones tour and it was hands-down the best concert I have ever been to. This CD contains pretty much everything from the concert. It's an intimate view of his music- him singing and playing his guitar, with a piano player for accompanyment. It is an awesome CD and I highly recommend it. Especially if you've been to a concert on this tour, feels like I'm sitting in the theater all over again!
The intended sound of the bare bones concert was the acoustics Sound... Crank it up loud. Beautiful reminder of the raw beauty of his voice, beautiful piano accompliment. This is what Bryan's music is about, the voice, the lyrics and the guitar. I think when I am over on the Other Side that Bryan is still singing and banging out the beautiful music. All the classics and a few new ones. I don't ever get tired of listening to his voice, bare bones or not.
The Bare Bones CD is the VERY BEST album by Bryan Adams. If you have gone to one of his Bare Bones concerts, you know how great he sounds with just the guitar, piano and his incredible voice. After seeing him at the Bare Bones concert last year, I hoped he would do a CD. Anyone that enjoys Bryan Adams music, will LOVE this album!
Saw him on this tour... I wasn't expecting much but I thought it was one of the best concerts I've been to. He sounds as good as ever. Rarely do I like the live versions better than the studio versions, but I thought a lot of these songs sounded better stripped down, especially the newer songs. I think he should record more songs just like he played them on this tour.
When he played "Please Forgive Me" at the show I was at, and also the Ft Pierce, FL show he goes "This would make a good country song" in the middle and starts singing it in this country sounding voice. On this release they cut out the part where he says "This would make a good country song" and it just goes into him singing in that country style and it comes across kinda awkward. Not sure why they cut that out..... or at least I assume they cut it out.
They need to release this show on DVD/Blu Ray!!!!!!!!!!!!
Buy the CD in the mean time... well worth it. Spend your money on the regular release rather than the "deluxe version" though, since it includes the same amout of songs.
