I can't believe Amazon carries this selection. You can't find Boney M readily in the U.S. I'm so happy that I can finally purchase a Boney M CD so I don't have to listen to my old Boney M tapes that friends sent me from Europe over 10 years ago. For all your Eastern Europeans out there who grew up on this music - you need to buy yourself the CD version. It's great.
I was just too disgusted when I listened to the version of "Rivers Of Babylon" that opens this CD. The greatest Boney M hit appears here in a sort of remixed dance version that made me feel like smashing the disc. Forget about this little mistake of a release and go for the 1992 Boney M compilation named "Gold".
more than 20 years ago Boney M came to the USSR for just a few shows. I, a college student at the time, spent two very cold winter nights in a huge line for tickets - and did not get them... Listening to these great tunes did some magic to me: it carried me to my youth - to that Moscow winter of 1979, to those evenings in our dorm filled with Boney M, Smokey, and Genghiz Khan... Thanks, Amazon for reviving those memories!
This is a cool CD, it has the best of that great band, since i was 10 years (im 30 now) i count Boney M as ne of my favorite. this CD will prove that for you why they are best?
growing up in canada and moving to the states at the age of 15, one of the first major differences i noticed between the two so-called similar nations is america's lack of any knowledge of boney m! you can keep new kids on the block and tiffany, they pale in comparison to the schlocky, campy, and all-around greatness of this carribean cast! the only damage with this album is a few obscure songs i had never even heard of until i heard the greatest hits. they shouldn't have been included, that aside, it's hard to narrow just one song down as my favourite, but ma baker, daddy cool, and rasputin would be contenders. america, you may think you have had it all, but you missed out big time not knowing this band!
