Bone Thugs-N- Harmony, this debut album from Cleveland's finest definetly does not dissapoint. With only 7 tracks (actually its 8 but I dont count the instrumental) it makes for a short, but instant rap classic, up there in the ranks with Eazy-E's "St8 off the streets...". This album contains great songs with a very West coast feel to them,"Thuggish Ruggish Bone", "No Surrender", "Down Foe My Thang", "Creepin on ah come up", "Foe tha love of $" which is the whole album :O) And if that isn't enough Eazy E and DJ Yella both produced this album, with Eazy even appearing on "Foe tha love of money", so pretty much if you love any of Eazy E's albums, then make sure to check out his boys from Cleveland Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
This is the cd which put the most unique and original style on the map. Before the great E.1999 Eternal, there was this. Containing the hit songs Thuggish Ruggish Bone (a bone classic) and Fo Tha Love Of $ (also a classic), this was Bone's "hungry" album. They were young, angry, and eager, the this album shows it. Uneek only produces 2 cuts on the album, TRB and No Surrender. The beats are hardcore, and simple, as they had not yet reached the pyro-technic skills of E.1999 Eternal yet. The style and lyrics however shocked the world, and Bone became an instant success with this debut, as it peaked at #12 on the charts and sold over 4 million copies. Bone tells their story of "coming up" and taking the world by storm with this style, in the self-titled song "Creepin On Ah Come Up". This quite possibly one of the best hard-core gangsta rap albums ever created, along with Stra8 Outta Compton, The Chronic, etc. Bone was definatly at the hardest on this cd, though the E.1999 Eternal album is much superior. Still gets 5 stars though, cuz of the impact it had on the hip hop nation. A must buy.
Creepin on ah come up had only 8 songs and the last 1 moe cheddar is instrumental. That is probably the only reason why is not a classic or as good as East 1999 Eternal. Bone Thug's second album (due to faces of death release under B.O.N.E Enterpi$e name) brings it the quija and murder style that later on characterizes Bone Thugs throught the country. The young thugs rip up the mic in classic singles like thuggish ruggish bone and foe tha love of $ wit Eazy-E. But if you hear those two songs on the radio and think their good. Creepin on ah come up's production has songs like no surrender with a fast tight beat that blows up lyrics. A defenite satisfaction, but due to the lack of number of songs it only gets 4 stars
i absolutely love this ep. i could honestly listen to it over and over and not get sick of it. the combination of the beats, production, and raw lyrical flow are just great. thuggish ruggish bone has been one of my favorite hip hop songs ever since this album was released back in the early 90's. this album contains some of bones best work, second only to my and everyone elses favorite bone record, e. 1999. creepin on ah come up is bones first major label release, so the production is not as high end as some of their more recent albums, but the tracks are very solid. if you are a casual bone fan looking for something equivalent to the high end studio releases like home and i tried, you will enjoy this but it is probably not what you are looking for. if that is your case, i would just get the greatest hits. if you are completely new to bone, start here and stick to their early stuff prior to art of war, as everything to me after e. 1999 seems to be more and more repetitive and mundane. in my opinion, as the years progress, their work loses a lot of appeal to me, up to the newest ultimate loser, still creepin on ah come up. and if you know bone, you obviously already own this.
The 5 thugs from Cleveland come in hard and heavy with their first cd as Bone Thugs N Harmony. the cd although featuring only 8 tracks is pure gold. If you are a fan of Eazy E,fast rapping or hip hop in general you will love this cd.
the cd only realy has 5 songs but this is the only downside to the cd. 2 of the songs (Thuggish ruggish bone,Foe tha love of $) are rap classics, No Surrender is held in high regard by many fans and the other 2 tracks Creepin on a come up and Down foe my thang are brilliant. Personally i think this cd is Bones 2nd best cd folowed by E. 99 Eternal, and being able to be picked up for a cheap price there is no reason to not get it. This cd is influenced by west coast rap with eazy e appearing in foe tha love of $ and Yella of N.W.A doing some of the beats along with DJ U-neek. this Cd is great, from the lyrics, the beats and the raw cleveland thug attitude, makes this cd one of my all time favourites.
