Review - Product Description
First of all, this is not Bob Marley's Legend collection done out in dub, in spite of what the title implies, and none of the original tracks was used. Instead, this set was recorded at a Long Island studio by non-Jamaican musicians and then mixed in a rather uninspired and generic fashion to approximate a dub album. One of the tracks isn't even drawn from a Marley tune, although to be fair, Gregory Isaacs' ''Night Nurse,'' which is dub-rendered here, was originally recorded at Marley's Tuff Gong Studios. That's as close as this album gets to having any real credibility. Casual Marley fans will find this set needless, while hardcore dub fanatics will find it extremely dull, lacking in any of the on-the-fly mixing techniques that makes genuine dub so arresting.
