This is an illegal bootleg release. Buy 'The Complete Bob Marley & the Wailers 1967-1972', parts 2 and 3 (from JAD Records) or Bob Marley & The Wailers albums from Trojan Records instead, if you want to have the songs on this album. JAD's and Trojan's releases are legal, and the sound quality is often much better on their albums. Also, if you buy the box sets from JAD, part of the money will go to the Bob Marley and Peter Tosh families and Bunny Wailer (the three original Wailers).
The small print on this CD states that the tracks are licensed, who from, etc. The sound quality is fair to good, about as good as any of the lower-price early Marley sets get. There are many other CDS which collect these same tracks, and most do not offer better sound quality than this set. Some other collections push up the bass, but in my opinion, do not actually improve upon the sound by doing so, and instead tend to make the sound a little more unbalanced. There are a couple of collections of this era that really does have superior sound quality, and if you are willing/able to pay more, seek out the "Complete Bob Marley & The Wailers" collections, on the JAD label. There is also a "Complete Upsetters" collection on Trojan, and another series of box-sets on JAD...But this is a good compilation of much of the great rocksteady Marley recordings, for a price that can't be beat if purchased used -- as of this writing all these great tracks can be had for as little as the cost of shipping. So this is a good purchase for fans of early Marley who cannot afford the costlier JAD sets, in my opinion.
this cd has bob marley songs that arent that wel recognized but they are still great.the songs are kinda gritty and raw like those old reggae mix tapes. overall good compilation by the king of reggae.
