This import cd is those who enjoyed the debut album by the Basement Jaxx, "Remedy". This disc seems to have commpiled the best non-album tracks that appeared on the "Red Alert", "Rendez-Vu" and "Bingo-Bango" singles. Most of the tracks here are either alternate versions, edits, or remixes of material which appeared on "Remedy". Three of the eleven tracks are radio edits, which means they are a minute or two shorter than their original versions. The remixes and alternate versions prove to be interesting. "Miracles Keep On Playin (Red Alert Mix)" is basically just a cut-up acappella of "Red Alert" put on top of the beat of some old disco song, with surprisingly good results. The other remixes are good too, as they make the songs sound new and fresh once again. The new material here seems to be music that did not make it onto the Basement Jaxx album for some reason. Each of these tracks could have fit right into "Remedy", but none would have stuck out, except for "La Photo" which has some really catchy melodies and hooks. "La Photo" seems to be a collaboration with Dimitri from Paris. It has ambient french noises and is a good track in all. I would recommend this import for those who wanted more from the Basement Jaxx after listening to "Remedy". That album was the best dance album in 1999. This isn't quite as good as "Remedy", but will wet apetites as fans await more new material from these guys.
First of all , I love Basement Jaxx! This particular CD is a compilation of unreleased tunes. So, some are old tunes that you may have heard before but mixed differently.
For a fan, it's a great addition to your collection. For someone who wants to hear the good Basement Jaxx songs/tunes get the regular CDs.
I love this CD! I play it every night in the car on the way to the club. Every single track rocks! Basement Jaxx are the best at what they do. Hands down.
