Andrea Bocelli is somewhat infamous for his foothold in both Popular and Classical music. He has broken sales records for his "popera" stylings but has earned what seems like unending critisism for his classical opera relases. I disagree with the critics. Bocelli's uplifting voice is magnificent in both styles and while Viaggio Italiano is NOT his best classical release that doesn't mean it's not good.
The first track "Nessun dorma" is a favorite of mine and Bocelli's version on this album only makes me like it more. He has a way of hitting high notes that sends shivers down ones spine. Unfortunately not all the tracks are as steller. "Ah, la paterna mano" is a big letdown especially in the light of Bocelli's more recent offering of Verdi's compositions. The other tracks on the CD are rather bland but it ends nicely with a slightly modern sounding version of "Adeste Fidelas", one that eclipses his Sacred Arias version in quality and execution.
Andrea Bocelli is my favorite artist and i would reccoment all of his CD's but i wouldnt put this one at the top of the list.
