Análisis - Product Description
Legends is a 3 CD box set from the rock god Alice Cooper. Included are the hit songs 'Spark In The Dark', 'House Of Fire', 'Lost In America', 'School's Out' and many more. Originally, there was a band called Alice Cooper led by a singer named Vincent Damon Furnier. Under his direction, Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical and violent brand of heavy metal that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, heavy metal, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood, and huge boa constrictors, all coordinated by the heavily made-up Furnier. By that time, Furnier had adopted the name for his androgynous on-stage personality. While the visuals were extremely important to the group's impact, the band's music was nearly as distinctive. Driven by raw, simple riffs and melodies that derived from '60s guitar pop as well as show tunes, it was rock & roll at its most basic and catchy, even when the band ventured into psychedelia and art rock. After the original group broke up and Furnier began a solo career as Alice Cooper, his actual music lost most of its theatrical flourishes, becoming straightforward heavy metal, yet his stage show retained all of the trademark props that made him the king of shock rock. RCA. Camden. 2006.

- a nice compilation companion piece

cheap cardboard which holds 3 jewel cases, no book?, no inner sleeve notes? ALICE COOPER has gone thru several changes in his career--awesome 70's, bleak awful 80's, 90's rebirth millenium...etc. if you have the BOXSET-then you may want to go for this 3 disc set. disc 1 and 2 are selected cuts from recent releases and disc 3 is all live recordings(I am not sure as to where these come from but I think from IMPORT cd singles)-if this is true then this is a fine representation of his later career all wrapped up nicely. its an IMPORT box and is cheap priced. for its cheap presentation its not a cheap deal for the consumer.

- who's playing live?

It is incomprehensible, if not insulting, that SONY/BMG includes no information about who is in the live band, when it was recorded, or at what venue.

- Great songs but reissued yet again under the guise of a greatest hits package.

Along with the albums "Spark In The Dark" and "Poison" this is just another repackaging of the late 80's albums "Trash", "Hey Stoopid", "The Last Temptation" and "Classicks" (the live compilation, which in itself is just a collection of the other 3 albums mixed with some live tracks of classic material). "Spark In The Dark" and "Poison" include almost all of the studio tracks from the mentioned albums, but being special compilations leave out like 2 or 3 tracks and fool you into thinking you're buying something new. This collection is the same thing. So, buy the above 3 studio albums and if you're really into hearing what Alice sounded like live on his "Trashes The World" tour (featuring future Megadeth/Trans-Siberian Orchestra axeman Al Pitrelli in his first big gig alongside Dream Theater's Derek Sherinian and the great Jonathan Mover on the kit) buy the DVD, not "Classicks." Further, each of the three albums had their own feel ("Trash" is complete love ballads by Desmond Child, "Hey Stoopid" is in your face shock rock and "The Last Temptation" is a concept album that's one of Alice's best) and to mix the tracks up lessons the power of the whole. New fan or old fan, don't waste your time with this or the other compilations ... for hardcore collector's only who must have every reissue.

- The Alice And The Labels

This is a tale of how Alice Cooper makes five-star music, and Sony knocks it down to four.

You see, if you are a fan of Alice Cooper's music, this collection if wonderful. It includes a large number of his very best songs (Poison, School's Out, and House Of Fire, to name a few)... The problem lies in the packaging, shall we say.

Now, there's a chance this is just the copy I got, but I very much doubt it... But, when I play these CDs in my computer, they are all labeled as though they are CD 2 (of three). The "CD name" is "Legends - Disc 2" for each of the three discs, and all the songs are labeled as the songs on disc 2. This is not to mention that it's listed as "Unknown Artist" playing all these songs.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed playing these discs, and if you like Alice Cooper, you will too.
