Review - Product Description
Konvicted edited edition. - Akon: Multi-Platinum singer songwriter, producer and international phenomenon Akon returns with his sophomore album. Akon released his debut album Trouble in 2004, which included the singles ''Locked Up (Remix)'' (featuring Styles P Lonely, Bananza (Belly Dancer), Pot Of Gold and Ghetto. Locked Up reached the top 10 in the U.S. and the top 5 in the UK, and was written after Akon was jailed for three years for armed robbery. In 2005, he released the single Lonely (whichsamples Bobby Vinton's Mr. Lonely. The song reached the top 10 on the U.S. charts, and was #1 in both Australia andthe UK. His album also climbed to #1 in the UK in April, 2005. Recently, he gained more popularity after being featured in the song "Soul Survivor" with rapper Young Jeezy and then with his own artist, T-Pain. Akon also has his own record label, called Konvict Muzik Trouble has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide (1.4 million US). Since releasing Trouble, Akon has produced, written, and/or appeared on hit songs for Young Jeezy ''Soul Survivor'' was also written by Akon), Elton John, R. Kelly, Gwen Stefani, Beenie Man and T-Pain. Konvicted features Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Styles P and T-Pain. Debut ''Smack That'' video is directed by Benny Boom. The title Konvicted stems from Akon's awareness that people often convict him before they get a chance to know him or his music. Primarily self-produced by Akon, Konvicted challenges all previous assumptions. Akon's writing is prolific and the tracks are beautiful. Konvicted is an album full of smash, classic hits. If you thought you knew who Akon was, take a listen to the diversity of Konvicted and you will learn so much more about his enormous talents.

- A follow-up that shows "konviction"

This second album from Akon is a genre-bending collection of R&B and Hip Hop tracks and lots of ballads. Singing with passion and "konviction", he returns with that unmistakable accent and international musical flavor that propelled his debut album to multi-platinum status.

The first single "Smack That" is an infectiously catchy dance track, and having a re-energized Eminem as a guest artiste won't hurt it's chances at all. The second single "I Wanna Love You" (or the version with the more explicit title) features Snoop Dogg, where Snoop is ready for a little action, and Akon is looking for a relationship, just like his pal T-Pain.

However, if R&B ballads are more your thing, there are some excellent ones on this album, such as "The Rain", "Never Took the Time" (one of the best tracks on the album), the reggae-beat "Mama Africa", "I Can't Wait", and the retro-soul track "Tired of Runnin'"

For mid-tempo fans there's the down to earth "Gangsta Bop", "Blown Away" (featuring Styles P.) and the bonus track "Gringo". If its dance tracks you're after, you'll also like "Shake Down", but this being a more introspective album there's not much room for dancing.

This album contains explicit lyrics, and the unfortunate thing is that the profanity doesn't complement an otherwise very good album. A good buy for someone who likes R & B ballads and doesn't give a #### about profanity.

- Good Hip-hop infused R&B record

An R&B album with a lot of urban Hip-Hop appeal. If you like Akon's sing-song style, this album is for you. He talks about more than just picking up women, that is just the club bangin' singlesw/ Slim Shady and Snoop. His album goes all over the place (sad to happy and every emotion in between) and seems 'real', not a formula type album. I'd recommend it.

This young man seems to be everywhere. My son really enjoys his music and has been to numerous dance conventions where they use this same CD for lessons. Im happy with my purchase
