Stephen Foster began his career at Broadway Sound, one of several nowlegendary recording studios located near Muscle Shoals, Ala., where he grew up. He was a wide-eyed 19-yearold and there was plenty to see. The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Traffic and Willie Nelson were among the parade of recording artists who came through Muscle Shoals to cut songs.
