Zakk Wylde - Special Lessons - Guitar Lecture (part 1)+TAB
TABLATURE HERE: http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x290/bubsy_07/GuitarlectureZakkWylde.jpg EX 1: (at 03'50) Did you check Zakk's video "Pentatonic speedballer"? I find it awesome but no way to get a free tab thru the web so... I made the transcription myself based on his video in youtube and eventually made a lesson of it because he doesnt himself explain much. I hope this might interest you. I dont say my work is flawless, just did my best to bring something that make sense to me. Im not Zakk. Actually playing two notes/ string is what I find the most challenging. /!\ Zakk is tuned in Eb so each string turned 1/2 step down. I also tuned 1/2 step lower. There is no metronome in his video so I had to guest myself the rhythm patterns. I choosed a free tempo in my scoring so that the speed match Zakk's video playing. 120 bpm in my video. To appreciate this lesson I advise that you already know the differents positions of the A minor pentatonic scale. If not, I guess you can find tons of lessons on it thru the web and youtube. Part I: Lets pick each note. 2 notes/ string Place the accent on the E high string with LH (left hand) ring finger. I guess he demostrates this as an exercise before the second part where he repeats this 2notes/string pattern toward the fingerboard and using the A minor pentatonic scale. So practice this pattern over and over untill you reach a decent accuracy and speed. Part II: In opposition to part I which is an exercise, this part II is a genuine lick. Basically there are groups of 4 notes. On strings B and E high. It's a 2 notes / string pattern, ascending A minor pentatonic scale. The end of the lick, he descends the same scale A minor pentatonic with some vertical shapes and differents groups of 6 and four notes. Im pretty confident the 16th tripplet (rhythm shape) fit great to play it. Zakk puts a lot of accents here and there palm muting some strings. He has developed thru the years a very rough and nervous picking attack which is IMO very difficult to match... Hope you liked the lesson. Dont forget to check out my guitar methods. www.rooguitar.com
