- Don't SleepThis is one tight cd. Z-ro's beats and lyrics are off the chain. If you don't have it, get it!

- Z-Ro - 4/20 The Smoker's AnthemProlific Houston Rapper Z-Ro's (Joseph W. McVey) latest release is "4/20 The Smokers Anthem" a fifteen track compilation. I read recently that Z-Ro's next album may be his last hopefully he changes his mind about that as he has yet to get the shine he deserves in the Rap game. To me Z-Ro easily outshines many of his Southern counterparts who are signed to major labels and in some cases releasing half-ass albums. Z-Ro's got tight lyrics, a genuine personality, and is the rare Rapper who can rhyme and sing well. What he needs now is the backing of a major label who can provide him with the marketing he deserves. I only started following Z-Ro on his last three albums and I have been impressed by what I have heard. My favorite track on this release is the outstanding "Pain", Z-Ro rhymes on this cut go real deep, in a track which is about one man's stand for himself. Other definite standouts for me are the smooth "Sunshine" where Z-Ro teams up with Lil Keke and the memorable "Time and Time Again", where Z-Ro collabs with Daz Dillinger, singing his own chorus on another powerful track. Z-Ro explains why he rides solo on "Roll By" a track where Z-Ro advocates a positive lifestyle and doing whatever it takes to make it. Z-Ro and female MC CL'Che close off the release rhyming back and forth on "Struggle and Pain", while Z-Ro provides the chorus. "4/20 The Smoker's Anthem" is a decent compilation, in my opinion Z-Ro has better material that could have been included on this release but to find that fans like myself need to explore his twenty+ releases. 3.5.
