this is possibly the most amazing thing i have ever listened to.Yngwie is one of the fastest and most talented guitarists ever. oh yeah, don't listen to the moron reviewer who said shred metal is not music. it is about as musical as music gets. "If Yngwie wants to shred, put out a shredding album"... is this guy serious? this is a shreding album dumbass. and it is an amazing one at that. Boroque and Roll is an amazing song, and a fantastic demonstration of some of the greatest guitar work of the last few decades. this IS PURE MUSIC. in shred metal there is supposed to be a big emphasis on the guitar. so don't say how Yngwie goes on for too long, ruining the song, and desroying the "current key being played". notice how the solos are all in thew right keys. to say shred guts a metal song, is like saying guns, explosions, and hot women gut james bond movies. stick to reviewing what you know about, which is probably things like greenday, nirvana, and korn, bands where the guitarists play 2 chords. SHRED!!!!!!!!!!!

- This is unbeleivable!!
Yngwie at his best. Faster then humanly possible, smooth, hard, very classically infuenced and powerful. Get this album and you'll know what im talking about. The compositions are beautiful even at the speed they're played. I can't say anything to do this album justice, just listen to it.

This is an awesome album. I got it this christmas along with 5 other cds and this just blows them all away. I have about 80 cds and I can still listen to this one every day. I think that it could have a few less songs but there arent any bad ones so it dosent matter too much. I think the best one on the album is Ship of Fools. Yngwies chourus riff fits so perfect with the vocals and the shred is amazing even for Yngwie. Another song that stands out is the insturmental Boroque and Roll. It is full of what Yngwie is all about and that is blindingly fast neo-classical shred metal. Yngwie is definatly someone you love or hate which I have realize. I know people that cant stand him and theres people like me who cant get enough of him. Im buying 4 new Yngwie albums as I speak. [...]

- Malmsteen continues to amaze with Attack!!!
I held off for the longest time buying this cd. I was waiting for a domestic release here in the states. Was it worth the wait? Oh yeah, and then some! Attack is amazing. Definately one of his best. Heavy, tight & fast best describes this cd. The production easily makes this one of the most listenable of all his recordings. With all the reviews so far I'll hold off on describing the songs...I'll just add that I love every track!
I also will point out that if you don't have this particular version of Attack and you're a serious Malmsteen fan then you need to order this one immediately! You need to hear the two bonus tracks! BATTLEFIELD is one of Yngwie's heaviest instrumentals ever! And the other bonus track, DREAMING (Live)is one of the best versions live I've heard of this song. An insane intro that includes bits of Concerto and has his current line-up backing him. This version of the song had more of a Rainbow sound to it thanks to Dougie's vocals. Check it out!!!
Yngwie continues to show why he's one of the best there is.

- Probably Malmsteen's best studio album in over ten years
Compared to earlier studio albums, Attack!! has a more consistent feel from song to song, with the vocal numbers just fitting better with the instrumentals. Malmsteen's guitar playing is as great as ever, with some of my best solo's. Also, singer Doogie White is my favorite vocalist to work with Malmsteen. I just saw the band tour in support of this album and compared to the last time I saw Malmsteen (in support of War to End All Wars) this band has much better chemistry and just plain sounds better. They played several songs off this album, at least four that I recall, and they were terrific.

I was glad to hear that this album is heavy without the pop song type feel some of the '90's releases had. Many of the tunes, such as Razor Eater and Ship of Fools have a power metal feel to them, comparable to Stratovarius or Symphony X. And the instrumental tunes are great, as usual.

So why four stars rather than five? Well, it's a really good album but not perfect. In my opinion, Malmsteen has yet to issue a flawless album other than the first one and his double live album and the Concerto album. On pretty much all of the others, the vocal tunes vary in quality and are rarely much more than platforms for the guitar solos with perhaps a cool vocal hook or two in them. That doesn't make them bad, mind you, but too often the songs all seem to fit the same formula. The guitar solos really are the reason to listen to Yngwie! That said, Attack!! is one of his finest and stands up pretty well with the first Rising Force album fairly well.

Don't miss a chance to check out Malmsteen on tour! Everybody should see this guy play live. He puts on a great show and is playing better now than he ever has.
