Wishbone Ash es una banda británica de rock que alcanzó fama a inicios y mediados de los años setentas con sus exitosos discos Wishbone Ash (1970), Argus (1972), There's the Rub (1974) y New England (1976). Bijna 40 jaar geleden brachten de heren van Wishbone Ash het eerste album uit. Ondertussen staan ze bekend als de grondleggers van de ‘twin lead guitar’ en werden de twee gitaristen door Rolling Stone Magazine verkozen bij de twintig beste gitaristen van de vorige eeuw. In 2007 bracht de band het 18e studioalbum uit.
Wishbone Ash werd opgericht in 1969 door Martin Turner en Steve Upton. Geïnspireerd door bands als The Shadows, Amerikaanse soulmuziek en bluesgitaristen. De doorbraak kwam na een jamsessie met Deep Purple gitarist Ritchie Blackmore, die Wishbone Ash een platendeal bezorgde. De eerste plaat werd uitgebracht en de groep viel op door de beide gitaristen.
Ondertussen is de band bijna vier decennia verder en is Andy Powell het enige overgebleven originele lid van de band. De voorkeur ligt ook niet meer bij shows voor tienduizend man. Powell: “In clubs heb je niet alleen contact met je publiek, het spelen op zich is er ook een grotere uitdaging. De mensen staan er met hun neus bovenop, je kunt niets wegmoffelen. Ook dat zorgt ervoor dat je fris en alert blijft.''

Frontman Andy Powell leidt de Britrockers nog immer!
39 jaar rock ‘n roll, and still going on… Wishbone Ash is opgericht in 1969 en begon met optreden in 1970. De band viel op door de unieke mix van blues, jazz en Engelse folk, maar het zijn vooral de gitaarsolo’s die het handelsmerk van Wishbone Ash zijn geworden. Vele bands hebben zich hierdoor laten inspireren, denk aan Thin Lizzy en Iron Maiden. Door de jaren heen hebben vele muzikanten hun talenten met Wishbone Ash gedeeld, onder andere Asia’s John Wetton, Trevor Bolder van Uriah Heep en Laurie Wisefield (Joe Cocker, Tina Turner).
Sinds 2007 heeft Wishbone Ash een nieuwe drummer gevonden in Joe Crabtree. Met een nieuw bandlid komt ook een nieuw geluid, wat door de fans enthousiast werd omarmd. Met een nieuwe cd is Wishbone Ash klaar om opnieuw de wereld te veroveren.

Agencja Go Ahead z przyjemnością informuje, iż w lutym 2010 roku legendarna formacja Wishbone Ash wystąpi dwukrotnie w Polsce na specjalnych koncertach w ramach okolicznościowej trasy "40th Anniversary Tour 2010". Wishbone Ash zagrają 16 lutego w Klubie Proxima oraz dzień później 17 lutego w Klubie Eskulap w Poznaniu. Można już nabywać bilety na oba koncerty na stronach eventim.pl, ticketpro.pl oraz ticketonline.pl. Bilety kosztują 89 zł (99 zł w dniu koncertu).

WISHBONE ASH
Wishbone Ash – brytyjska grupa rockowa powstała w 1969 r. Sprawą sporną jest zaliczenie jej do określonego gatunku. Jedni są skłonni uznać ją za progresywną, inni muzykę jej uznają za najbardziej wysublimowaną odmianę hard rocka. Z cała pewnością grupa zbliżyła do siebie oba te gatunki – szczególnie albumy Wishbone Ash, Pilgrimage i Argus posiadają cechy ich obu. Wyrafinowane i złożone brzmienie Wishbone Ash oparte było na duetach gitar elektrycznych.
