The Walkmen are an American indie rock band, with members based in New York City and Philadelphia. The band formed in 2000 with three members from Jonathan Fire*Eater—Paul Maroon (guitar, piano), Walter Martin (organ/bass), and Matt Barrick (drums)—and two from The Recoys, Peter Bauer (bass/organ) and Hamilton Leithauser (vocals, guitar). Another day, another song from The Walkmen’s highly anticipated album Heaven . The latest is the rousing “We Can’t Be Beat,” which illustrates The Walkmen’s different direction for the record, as Leithauser’s vocals go for quite the walkabout in this rattling acoustic led track.

The Walkmen have been releasing singles left and right in preparation of their new album, Heaven . Today, we have the stunning lead track for the album, " We Can't Be Beat ." The song is filled with the harmonies and pathos that make The Walkmen such a fantastic band. The band recently announced they will be moving the release date for Heaven up one week, meaning it will be released on May 29 ...

The Walkmen's sound is characterized by its simplicity — urgent guitars, driving drums and, of course, the voice of Hamilton Leithauser, who seems to bellow, howl and croon simultaneously.

"Heaven," the title track off the Walkmen's seventh album (out June 5 on Fat Possum/Bella Union), is free of the youthful detachment of the band's previous releases, harnessing their energy into a sweeping, more mature arrangement.
