"Turn My TV On" is about how the television is an outlet for people. Whether it is used for relaxing, watching one's favorite sitcom, creating background noise, escaping the intellectual challenges of the world, or even replacing a friend, it is an outlet many people turn to in their time of need. In our production, the characters demonstrate the vices that get them through their personal lives. Rockin' out to a favorite song, exploring chat rooms and message boards, retail therapy - all guilty pleasures that provide excitement to their defendants. Regardless of outsiders who witness their therapeutic habits or those who know of their obsessions, these individuals are going to pursue their vices. A quote found on a t-shirt inspired us to experiment with the concept of breaking from personal worlds guided by blinders to reconnect with the outside world. "Reach out and open the door that no one thought could be opened. Life is behind it! We don't have an eternity to realize our dreams, only the time we are here. If you risk nothing, then you risk everything." However, their personal vices still remain and time has been lost while not taking off the blinders to experience the world. The world can be scary from a distance, but it is even more frightening when you don't acknowledge the presence of time. Thank you to all the talented individuals who worked on the production. From those who developed the idea to the pretty faces of the video to the magical people in post production, thank you! Hopefully you enjoy the final product as much as we do.* -ant.emeka & Rachel *Disclaimer: the visual quality of our video was significantly compromised when uploaded to YouTube.
