"The fiercest calm I've been in..." Concertina is a lament for addiction to self-mutilation, masked behind an unusually dance-oriented electronica exterior. Although the eponymous squeezebox instrument is noted in the lyrics as a decoy, concertina itself is a barbed razor wire fully capable of inflicting Chinese paper cuts, another fix, and a fierce calm escape from the massive anxieties and lack of control that fuel the addiction. It's truly a very sad song, but as all of Tori's music, it is beautiful.
