Tokio Hotel is a German pop rock band founded in Magdeburg, Germany in 2001 by vocalist Bill Kaulitz, guitarist Tom Kaulitz, drummer Gustav Schäfer and bassist Georg Listing. The four met in 2001 after a live show in a Magdeburg club, where Listing and Schäfer, who knew each other from music school, watched from the audience while Bill and Tom Kaulitz played on the stage. After Bill Kaulitz’s participation in a children’s Star Search in 2003 at age thirteen (which he lost in the quarter-final), he was discovered by music producer Peter Hoffmann. |

Bill Kaulitz, the lead singer of German mega-band Tokio Hotel, was spotted while he left the Dior boutique in Paris, France. Germany’s hottest musical export returns October 6th with new album Humanoid, the follow-up to their 2007 debut Scream. Their first single off Humanoid is “Automatic.” Check out the sci-fi themed video below — it was shot in the South African desert!

This year the category pits nine-time nominee Lady Gaga against 3OH!3, Drake, Kid Cudi and Asher Roth and, according to one of them, the contest is already over before the September 13 show has begun.
