"What about Your Friends?" received massive airplay worldwide and became a hit on both R&B and dance charts. The song reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the group's third consecutive top ten single, while reaching #2 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks. The single was also certified gold by the RIAA. The song was not as successful in the UK. "What about Your Friends?" became TLC's second consecutive single not to reach the top forty singles in the UK, peaking at #59.
