Man people are making way too big a deal about this cd not being long enough and a "disappointment." First off, most of the songs will grow more and more on you each time that you listen to them. I think with a few good listens you will begin singing along just as we all did with the first album. Secondly, the CD is a SOUNDTRACK and while you could consider it the D's second album, it's main purpose is still to be a soundtrack. That being said, while some of the songs might not be that good to some of us now, when they are being played in the movie up on the big screen with Jack and Kyle performing those actions in the lyrics of the songs, I would imagine the songs will be pretty awesome. D fans- Don't listen to all the negative nancys, this is a great buy especially now at $9.99.

It's an excellent opening track, just for hearing Dio alone, but then it's another dozen or so before we encounter something that's longer than three minutes long, and the average length is two minutes. While nothing overstays its welcome, and Black's voice is still great, and the guitar work still graceful... so many of these songs are over before they get a chance to begin.

There's a much wider variety of music on here, like they're spreading their wings, but when it gets brilliant it feels more accidental than inspired. I think "Master Exploder" is genius, but I enjoy it more for its artistic merits than because it rocks or is funny. I think the problem is that this album can't find a groove in between "rock n' roll with a sense of humor" and nearly Zappa-inspired antics.

In the end, with its lack of cohesion, and the brevity of the album and most of the songs, I feel like I got a soundtrack with a couple bonus tracks.

When I put this album in my CD player after getting it, my first impression was that it wasn't as good as the first album. Three and a half days later, I can't stop listening to it! My girlfriend is sick of my singing.

Beelzeboss is the best track on the album by far, with Grohl's drumming and vocals as the devil, and the D absolutely rocking. The appearences of Meatloaf and Dio were definite plusses. It's awesome to hear History on this album.

Hopefully my relationship can withstand this onslaught from the D.

For anyone who isn't previously versed in the D, this CD may be a little off-putting. Especially those who like the single Pick of Destiny that is all over MTV. But being a fan of the D for a long time, I rather enjoy this disc. My only problem with Tenacious D has been that they didn't have enough music on their first CD. This problem is solved on the soundtrack to their movie that opens next week. One thing I've always thought is that when they really want to be, Tenacious D are an excellent band. Kyle and Jack can harmonize easily and Jack is quite the frontman, who can also sing when he wants to. The lyrics are goofy and crass but it's the magic of the D. The musicianship of the band is excellent as I have said before, Kyle is a solid guitar player and their drummer is the multi-talented Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters). Certain songs I really enjoyed are "Kickapoo" which features both Meatloaf and Ronnie James Dio. Other good songs are History (which is from their TV show, which are included on the Tenacious D Masterworks, which I would also suggest for D fans), Master Exploder and Beezleboss, which is pretty metal, even for the D. So if you want to hear some good rock music with the appeal of Jack Black and stilly humor, join the ever growing fans of the D immediately!

I've seen the defense that this "is a soundtrack" and isn't the official 2nd-album by The D. And while I can appreciate that line of thinking, the fact is that they've been in the spotlight for 9 years now (since being a Mr.Show bumper in '98), and in that time they've only managed to squeak-out their debut release and... this.
Less than 35-minutes of music, much of it feeling very filler-like, including two recycled tracks ('History' and a revamp of 'Classico'). A fan can't help but feel disappointed.
At least the price (esp. here on Amazon) is right. It's priced just above an EP, and that's about how much new music you get.

I do hope they buckle-down and get to writing a proper new album. Hearing the genuis that is 'Kickapoo' on this soundtrack just reminds us HOW AMAZING Tenacious D can be when they really put their minds to it.
