Sum 41 Biography

Sum 41 is a pop-punk band from Ajax, Ontario, Canada. The band was formed from members of several local high school bands, 41 days into the summer of 1996. The band consists of Deryck Whibley, Thomas Thacker, Jason McCaslin and Steve Jocz. Their first recorded work was an EP called "Half Hour Of Power", but it wasn't until the release of their first studio album "All Killer No Filler", that they reached mainstream success. The album sold 2 million and spawned the popular hits "Fat Lip" and "In Too Deep". Since then they have released a further three studio albums: "Does This Look Infected?", the more metal sounding "Chuck" and most recently they returned to their pop-punk roots with "Underclass Hero". In 2009 a compilation album featuring the bands hits called "All The Good Shit" was released. A fifth album is expected in Spring 2010.

Sum 41 reached mainstream success with the release of All Killer No Filler, which sold over 2 million copies. The album was made popular due to the hit singles "Fat Lip" and "In Too Deep", the former reaching number 1 on the US Modern Rock charts.

Since signing a record deal with Island Records in 1999, the band has released five studio albums, two live CDs, two live DVDs, almost twenty singles and sold millions of copies worldwide. As of 2006 the band performed more than 600 times and have become famous for their world tours that are usually more than a year-long.

A greatest hits compilation was released in November 2008 with a new album expected to be released near the start of 2010.
