A classic, very hard to find (CD format) first solo album by Smokey Robinson. All songs were produced by Smokey Robinson and Willie Hutach and album was Originally released 1973 in vinyl format. Side 1: Holly, Never My Love, Never Can Say Goodbye, A Silent Partner In A Three-way Love Afair, Just My Soul Responding & Sweet Harmony. Side 2: Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Wanna Know My Mind, The Family Song, & Baby Come Close.

Album is a must for all Smokey devotees.

This long-lost Smokey album has received little recognition among the works he's recorded, but it is certainly among the very best. A number of the songs he never recorded again, or at least I have not seen them. Chief among these is a medley of "Never My Love/Never Can Say Goodbye," also "Will You Love Me Tomorrow." I think it is essential for those who love Smokey and his music. I want the CD and wish it was re-released, as it seems impossible to find. But if you have it (as a CD), please offer it for sale.

This is classic, vintage Smokey. Here he give you songs that he was probably holding on to just for this album. You can almost hear the glee in it's vocals. His voice is sharp, clear, and on point. Some parts of the chorus you can tell that the Miracles aren't there anymore. From the beginning to the end you can hear him breaking out from under the Miracles image. I am one of few that actually own the CD. For the life of me I cannot understand why they haven't re-issued this. Each song is just as great as the other. "Never My Love/Never Can Say Goodbye, Holly, Baby Come Close, & Will You Love Me Tomorrow are classics. The vocal arrangements are flawless. But he also gave some recognition to the Miracles in "Sweet Harmony". You can hear in "Just My Soul Responding" that he has made his stand on a political issue. Smokey showed that he can deliver as a solo artist. Willie Hutch did an outstanding job producing the album. I was surprised that they didn't do the follow up album together. If you don't have this album/CD then you should get in touch with someone that does.

SOMETIMES THE BEST MUSIC IS LEFT OUT OF PRINT FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON. IN THIS CASE I CAN NOT SEE WHY THIS ALBUM IS OFF THE SHELF SINCE IT IS A SMOKEY ROBINSON MASTERPIECE RECORDED ON MOTOWN. I ALSO BELIEVE IT WAS HIS FIRST ALBUM RELEASE AFTER HE LEFT THE GROUP.THE OPENING TRACK "HOLLY" IS BY FAR ONE OF HIS FINEST BALLADS EVER AND THE REST OF THE TRACKS ARE AMAZING EXAMPLES FROM THIS MUSICAL ICON.WE CAN ONLY WAIT-----

If only I could afford 100 bucks for this album I would most assuredly buy it. It was such a great album I have bought it from the record stoer at least 3 times thru out my life time. It was so beautiful I really loved Holly as it explained my life so well I lived Holly made rules and broke the ones she made, most folks would be afraid to play the games that Holly played. Hollylike a cloud in the sky oh my God it is so wonderful and it is going on my wish list maybe some good l ucking guy will buy it for me. LoL
