Description :
Punk rock, platinum poster boys Simple Plan are at it again - making music that is. The quintet are feverishly putting the final touches on their long awaited, new album entitled Still Not Getting Any... scheduled for release on Lava Records on October 26, 2004. Still Not Getting Any... shows a tremendous amount of musical growth for the quintet. The disc also includes the alternative leaning, guitar driven track "Perfect World" and the up-tempo, straight ahead Simple Plan track "Shut Up" which features a sing-a-long chorus like no other. This release will be the highly anticipated DUALDISC. CD with NEW Music On One Side - DVD of RARE VIDEO FOOTAGE on Flip Side.( DVD includes all 11 songs in 5.1 surround sound, Making Of The Record video footage, Photo gallery, Lyrics, Discography, & More ) !! Review - Amazon.com :
Inevitably labeled "pop punk," Simple Plan's sophomore album finds the Montreal quintet settling in as a straight-ahead rock band. Yes, lyrically, their concerns remain grounded in the adolescent petulance and alienation of classic punk. They're "the ones you love to hate." "You don't know what it's like to be me," they insist. "We're the kids that you pushed away," they huff. Musically, however, the follow-up to 2002's popular No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls finds the band moving toward a strain of radio-friendly rock that owes less and less to the punk canon. Opener (and album highlight) "Shut Up!" "Me Against the World," and "Perfect World" boast sweeping choruses and Pierre Bouvier's spit-in-your-eye vocals. But strings creep into "Welcome to My Life" and the closer, "Untitled," is a heart-on-his-sleeve piano lament that owes more to Night Ranger than the Ramones. This one will appeal to fans who prefer the "pop" side of the "pop punk" equation. --Steven StolderCustomer review - 2004-10-28
- Stellar Sophomore CD for Simple Plan Simple Plan's second original CD, "Still Not Getting Any . . . " gives its legion of fans no letdown after the long wait for the second CD. If anything, it is an improvement on the first.
Fans at their shows have already been introduced to "Welcome to My Life" and "Shut Up!", both good, catchy songs just packed with the adolescent angst that is SP's trademark. "Shut Up!" in particular, shows the band's knack for combining downbeat lyrics with upbeat tunes, in a song which I interpret as a teenager's thoughts while being lectured by his parents.
Something's changed a bit from the first CD, and that's the band's perspective. Many of the songs on "No Pads, No Helmets, . . . Just Balls" had the perspective of a teen complaining about a poor relationship with a parent. There's still a bit of that in songs like "Me Against The World" and "Shut Up!", but this time, more songs talk about a romantic relationship gone bad (for example, "Perfect World", "Everytime" and "Thank You"), and the perspective is more young adult than teenager--"Everytime" talks about the partner waking the singer at 3 a.m. and driving to dawn--not likely if still living at home. The band's characters are maturing, as is their music.
Other notable songs include "Crazy", a throwback to Reset's (the predecessor band to Simple Plan) socially-conscious songs, and "Jump", plainly intended as a concert song but very strong in its own right.
Perhaps the strongest song on the CD is "Untitled", a downbeat song with downbeat music, the dying thought of someone who doesn't know why he's dying, and despite the people around him, is dying utterly alone. The sadness which runs through many of the band's works is here in full strength. Softer than usual and using a piano (shades of "Meet You There" on the first CD), even if never released as a single, it may well be the band's best song to date.
While lead singer Pierre Bouvier did almost all the singing on the first CD, much more is heard from backup singers Sebastien Lefebvre and David Derosiers, who do a lot more of the singing here, and they are well worth listening to.
Extras on the DVD or flip side (depending on edition) include the video for "Welcome to My Life" and the program (shown, I believe, on MTV) about its making.
Highly, highly recommended.

- This CD is AMAZING.Wow...where do I begin with this album?
Well first off, I think it's amazing and I love it to pieces. All of the songs are great and there's not a track on here that I don't like or love. Pierre's voice, their musical ablities, as well as some other things have really improved, even though they were already really great before.
I think that they've done an amazing job on this album and it's just...wow. I haven't been able to stop listening to it since the day it came out. The lyrics and music are great and so is the DVD, although I think the making of the record section should have been more than just 20 minutes. But all-in-all, this CD is awesome and I HIGHLY recommend this.
I'm going to give a low-down on what I thought of all the songs on here:
Shut Up! - Second song I heard off of here and one of my favorites.
Welcome to My Life - First song I heard off of here and also another of my favorites. When I first heard it, I was like, "Wow, is that Simple Plan??", as lame as it may sound. But I became hooked on it and couldn't wait till the whole CD came out. I'll admit, this song had made me cry before.
Perfect World - One of my favorites. Love the lyrics.
Thank You - I can totally relate to that song, as can a lot of people also.
Me Against the World - Great lyrics.
Crazy - "Is everybody going crazy?" I also wonder about the things that are mentioned in here.
Jump - One of my favorites. I can also relate to that song.
Everytime - The lyrics are awesome on this song. It made me kind of sad when I first heard it/read the lyrics.
Promise - Personally my favorite track on the CD. I love the lyrics and Jeff's solo on here is mind-blowing.
One - Personally not one of my favorites but still an awesome song.
Untitled - Another one of my favorites. I love the lyrics and the piano/strings/etc. Definitely one of the best songs they've ever done.
So if you haven't already gotten Still Not Getting Any..., no wonder you're still not getting any! Just kidding. Sorry, that was lame. But what are you waiting for? Go out and get it!

- A very good CDThis Cd is very good. Simply put. The band's sound has occured much more on this record. Although, I did like the first record more. I do think though that SP should bring back some of they're more energetic songs. I'm all for the whole "maturing" thing, but common. Some of us WANT an immature group of twenty-something year olds. Maybe not neccicarily immature, but, more fun.
Shut Up!: 10/10 I absoulutly love this song. This is the kind of energy I'm talking about! Also, a good song for SP haters.
Welcome To My Life: 10/10 Beautiful. I know, its the "teen-angst" chilche type song, but it is very beautiful. Very easy to relate to.
Perfect World: 7/10 Good song, but has the worst beat ever! Meaningful lyrics, but, c'mon guys, you can do better.
Thank You: 9/10 I really like it.
Me Against The World: 10/10 Simply because the beat is...wow. Very cliched lyrics, though.
Crazy: 8/10 Good meaning, very squeaky, bad beat.
Jump!: 10/10 My fave! It's the kind of music that makes you want to...jump! Ladies and gentlement this is what this music is all about!
Everytime: 6/10 Wah, wah. She's gone. I'd kill to have her back. Yeah, yeah Pierre. We know. Good beat though.
Promise: 9/10 Lovely beat, cliched lyrics. AWESOME guitar solo.
One: 4/10 Im sorry, I love the guys but, please shut up.
Untitled: 9/10 You would think they could come up with a title. Very moving song. Beautiful. Great way to end the CD.
Just know, I am NOT a SP hater. I love them. My favorite band. But guys, we don't want you to get us depressed, we want you to get us energetic and hyper! Send more music like that.
