Night of the Proms is a series of concerts held yearly in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain. Regularly there are also shows in France, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the Scandinavian countries. The concerts consist of a combination of pop music and popular classical music (often combined) and various well-known musicians and groups usually participate (see below).
Night of the Proms is the biggest annually organised indoor event in Europe.
Not to be confused with the Last Night of the Proms, which is the last concert of the BBC Proms, a series of seventy or so classical concerts held yearly in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
History
Night of the Proms was created by two Belgian students, Jan Vereecke and Jan Van Esbroeck in 1985. The first NotP took place at the Antwerp Sportpaleis in Belgium, 19th of October 1985. Nowadays the event is organized by PSE Belgium (Promotion for Special Events), still managed by Jan Vereecke and Jan Van Esbroeck. For the concerts outside the Benelux countries, PSE co-operates with local promoters (Dirk Hohmeyer in Germany, GPE Producciones in Spain, etc.).
In Germany the event is called "the Nokia Night of the Proms", as Nokia is the main sponsor.

The Nokia Night of the Proms ist in vielfacher Hinsicht einzigartig. Entstanden als Studentenparty in Antwerpen, feiert sie seit Jahren europaweit Erfolge. Das bestbesuchte Musik-Happening schaffte das, was lange Zeit unmöglich schien: Der nahtlose Brückenschlag von populärer Klassik zu Pop-Klassikern wird seitens des Publikums mit einer derart lebhaften Begeisterung begleitet, wie sie sonst kaum mitzuerleben ist.
Jetzt hat das lange Warten hat ein Ende - die Veranstalter von The Nokia Night Of The Proms haben endlich das Geheimnis um ihre diesjährigen Künstler gelüftet. Roxette wurden jetzt als Headliner für das diesjährige Musikhappening bestätigt.
Sieben Jahre nach der krankheitsbedingten Absage ihres Auftritts beider Nokia Night Of The Proms feiern Roxette exklusiv im Rahmen der diesjährigen"Klassik trifft Pop"-Tournee ihr internationales Bühnen-Comeback. Obwohl beide Musiker in den vergangenen Jahren jeweils auf Solopfaden unterwegs waren, gab es seit 2001 keine gemeinsamen Konzerte als Roxette. Im Rahmen der NokiaNight Of The Proms Tournee 2009 feiern Roxette nun ihr internationales Comebackund präsentieren ihre größten Hits mit orchestraler Begleitung.
Mit der Verpflichtung von Roxette erfüllt sich Tourneeveranstalter und Produzent DirkHohmeyer einen lang gehegten Traum. Zum 15jährigen Jubiläum des Erfolgskonzeptes verziert er die Geburtstagstorte mit noch weiteren musikalischen Sahnehäubchen. Denn neben Roxette haben auch Heaven 17 und Alan Parsons zugesagt. Den klassischen Part übernehmen die ungarischen Zwillinge Peter und Zoltan Katona an den klassischen Gitarren. Weitere Geburtstagsgäste sind John Miles und ein „special guest“, der in den kommenden Monaten bekannt gegeben wird.
