Review - Amazon.com :
Before he threw his talent away in the mid-1970s, Rod Stewart was a rock star to be reckoned with. His sandpaper and whiskey throated vocals were the perfect vehicle for the blues-rock sound he pursued in the '60s with various bands, including the Jeff Beck Group. On his own, Stewart came up with something even more potent, mixing electric instruments with mandolins, acoustic guitars, and fiddles on songs such as "Maggie May," "You Wear It Well," and his gorgeous reading of Tim Hardin's "Reason to Believe." This collection is limited to Stewart's brief time at Mercury Records in the early '70s, but that's fine, since that period saw the release of his best albums overall: The Rod Stewart Album, Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story, and Never a Dull Moment. His biggest smashes from that time are here along with lower-charting but equally fine fare such as "Twistin' the Night Away," "Country Comforts," and "It's All Over Now." --Daniel Durchholz

- The early hits
If you are like me and love the early stuff of Rod the Mod when he was with Faces and you own vinyl such as "every picture tells a stoy" or "never a dull moment" then buy this compilation with confidence. The remastering is very good and worth every penny spent.I never was one for Rods stuff in the later years so this fits into my collection of British Invasion artists perfectly. Lets all hope Rod continues to reach back into his earlier years as he seems to be of recent.

- ROD'S ROOTS
Are you a real Rod Stewart FAN?...well then is ok to buy this album, it contains the very beginning music from this singer.. YOU CAN HEAR THE EVOLUTION...but if you are looking for the commercial hits from the 80s, This album may be disappointing ...altough this cd is the oportunity to obtain in one album THE ROD STEWART¨S ROOTS.

- NOT ESSENTIAL, BUT GOOD ENOUGH
If you're a die-hard Rod fan, you'll want to purchase his box sets, or even better, every single album he put out. If you're just the casual listener interested in hearing Rod before he changed his musical style, this CD is definitely a great purchase. Every well-known (or noteworthy) song he did during the Mercury-era is here, and they are all pure listening enjoyment. Rod's husky vocals, the awesome electric guitars, and the gorgeous fiddles and mandolins make each song--fast or slow--classics in their own unique right.

- The best cuts from the best era
This music is Stewart's classic material from the early and mid 70's...when rock and blues were mixed with his terrific voice. I would also recommend Atlantic Crossing, although none of it's music is included in this collection. Later collections (through the late-70's and 80's) are really inferior to what we have on this CD.

- CD was just ordinary. Arrived in perfect Condition.
Wish their was more information about the music on this cd as I already have a large Rod Stewart Collection. This was a repeat in music for me. Would recommend to others. Good vendor.
