Review - Album Details :
The Former Take that Bad Boy's Triumphant Appearance at the 2003 Knebworth Festival Proved to Be One of the High Points of his Career. Reviews were Stellar, Fans were Satiated....despite All that Had Gone Wrong Outside his Homeland in the Year Prior, his Core Audience was More Than Willing to Embrace their True Pop Idol. Lucky for Them, the Recorders Captured their Every Shreik and his Every Note. Non-believers and Fans who Couldn't Brave the Mud N Such Can Now Vicariously Re-live the Show that Many Will Not Soon Forget.

- Disappointed RW fan - song choices are crap
Like most of the US fans of Robbie, I bought this CD as an import (luckily at a good price), and was expecting a really great album...especially after learning that this album was taking the place of a supposed greatest hits that would fill Robbie's annual Christmas gift to fans. Lately he is the undisputed king of Christmas. So hopes were high for this live CD...I even squealed when my little package arrived!

Well, he could've at least made this a live greatest hits. As it is, there are too many songs on this CD that I could care less about....such as a dreadful version of "We Will Rock You" and a rousing, but interesting take on "Hot Fudge" (a song that most American fans will only know if they bought the import version of "Escapology") just to name a few. Heck, even the audience doesn't know "Hot Fudge" well enough to sing along when Robbie tries to goad them on!

I also could've done without "Me and My Monkey," one of the dopiest songs Robbie's EVER done. It's seven minutes I would rather spend listening to two of Robbie's other, better songs.

Where is "Millenium"? "Rock DJ"? "Strong?" I know this tour was to promote "Escapology," but I know he performed more of his hits than what is represented on this disc. The set lists were printed in all the papers afterward and many of the missing songs were performed, so why not included on teh disc? This should easily have been a 2-CD set!

And above all else...WHERE IS THE DUET WITH MARK OWENS ON "BACK FOR GOOD" that the two did on the last night of this tour>!?! That alone would've made this worth the purchase. It again proves that the record company has no idea how to market Robbie and have gotten lucky that the fans have embraced him despite it (the record company's lack of promotional ability is much of the blame in RW's failure to crack the US market despite being one of the greatest performers around right now).

I have better live versions of the good songs on this disc ("Angels", "Better Man," "Let Me Entertain You," Etc.) from b-sides I've collected rather than the ones on this disc.

I agree with the statement made by a poster here that the album is too produced. That will be very obvious once the DVD comes out. I have seen Robbie live many times and he is much more verbal than the occaisional "COME ON" that he shouts throughout this CD. I know this was culled from three performances, but to paraphrase this disc, COME ON...Robbie and his label can do better.

This could've been a great album, but instead smacks of EMI trying to make a quick buck off Robbie's loyal fans. A move that is obviously backfiring considering it's one of Robbie's poorest selling discs to date.

- Decepcionante!

- Worse Live Album in the last 15 years
I normally Love live cds, so when I bought this, I was so hopefull it would catch Robbie's talent as a live performer,
it didn't. Sure its got all his hits, but Live albums are suppose to recapture the feeling you get from going to a concert. Like Garth Brooks's Double Live did so well in 1998.

Way to much studio work was done on this album from Robbie,If
the idea was to make a perfect album well it failed because live
concerts arent suppose to be perfect.

The only highlight of this album was Let me entertain you, which
he does in concerts but not on this album.

- Dissapointing!!!
The first thing I noticed about this cd is the tracklisting. Great songs like "Millenium" , "Old Before I die" , "Rock DJ" , "Supreme" , "The road to mandalay" , "Eternity" , are NOT here. These missing songs are past singles which I do not understand why they are not in his "First Live cd".

Ok, I was expecting a lot from this cd, but the good stuff that robbie usually provides its not there. The songs sound like if he is trying to play Rock (like oasis). Even the ballads have this kinda "rock" feeling to it. Too much electric guitar, crowd is really loud (annoying), very heavy drums and NO Orchestral arrangements which usually contribute a lot to Robbie's music.

One example I can use is "We will rock you". Robbie's voice sounds out of place and he keeps on talking to the audience for no reason at all. In other songs electrical guitars and keyboards try to cover the orchestral arrangements of songs like "Angels" or "Mr Bojangles" and it doesn't work either. Can you imagine "Angels" without the string section? Its plain bad... If Robbie played for 375,000 people, I dont know why he wasn't able to get at least a 12 string section for the orchestral arrangements. Even Oasis got a little orchestra during their famous 1996 concerts at Knebworth.

I have seen a couple of live shows of Robbie on tv and easily they are way better than the quality of this recording. There is a live version of Angels as a b-side, this version was recorded at Slane Castle 2001, this version has the string section and it is truly amazing, I wish robbie had released a live cd from that concert instead of Knebworth.

Instead of spending your money on this, you should rather wait for the DVD of this concert which hopefully will come to America soon. Otherwise dont spend your money on a cd that has no singles on it, and NO strings on it (i.e. Angels without strings, give me a break!).

Personalmente hubiese sido mas feliz si tocaban "win some lose some" (no la toca). Creo que como el mismo lo piensa, esta es una de las presentaciones mas espectaculares que todos debemos tener en CD, DVD, etc, etc y en nuestra mente por los siglos de los siglos amen.
