Review - Product Description
It would be clich‚ to say that Pharrell Williams needs no introduction. This Grammy-winning production wizard has been making the soundtrack to your days, nights and everything in between for the past few years. He is not only a master at producing, but also a member of the band N.E.R.D, the CEO of Star Trak Records, the CEO of a new clothing label BBC, CEO of his own sneaker line called Ice Cream and the spokes model for the Louis Vuitton fall campaign. Heralded by the press and the industry as a force to be reckoned with, Pharrell has created his own individual masterpiece, called `In My Mind.' The album highlights the diversified man. Introducing Skateboard P and Pharrell Williams. Both personas are represented on this album; 7 rap songs and 7 R&B songs. Enjoy, its another masterpiece.
Review - Amazon.com
A sort of King Midas of the US pop firmament, as one half of hit-making cartel The Neptunes and a founding member of NERD, Pharrell Williams boasts a remarkable track record. Roughly one half hip-hop and one half R&B, In My Mind follows the magic formula that’s seen Williams reinvigorate the careers of everyone from Britney and *NSYNC to Snoop Dogg and Nelly, drawing on music styles as disparate as metal and reggaeton and shaping them together with adventurous effect. In particular, the marching-band rhythms of "Keep It Playa" and the booming, atonal space-funk of "Can I Have It Like That" - featuring a brief cameo by Gwen Stefani - are startling examples of Williams’ production wizardry.

As an album, it’s not without its flaws: "Our Father" might wash with the God-fearing hip-hop fraternity, but more cynical audiences might balk at the Williams’ assertion that "Jesus is my playa"; meanwhile a duet with Jay-Z, "Young Girls", shows up the occasional weaknesses of his flow. No matter, though – you’ll buy this for the productions, and without exception, they gleam. – Louis Pattison

- What a mind!

Who knows what really goes on in Pharrell's mind? In this, his first solo album, Pharrell (half of The Neptunes and chief N.E.R.D.) calls on some of the hottest talents in Hip Hop and R&B, and the result is this fifteen song extravaganza, part Hip Hop, part R&B, all with the slick production and smooth mixing that made him a music phenomenon.

Three singles have already been released from this album, at least two of which are guaranteed instant hits. "Can I Have It Like That" features the one and only Gwen Stefani, and you couldn't want a better lead off track for an album. The other heat generating single is "Number I" with red hot Kanye West, and this one is tucked away near the end of the album for a hit "sandwich" that'll be pretty hard to beat. The third single "Angel" was released in the UK and is one of the tracks that Pharrell handles on his own, falsetto and all.

Watch out also for "How Does It Feel" a steamy Hip Hop track (Remember that this album has a parental advisory warning); "Raspy Sh!t"; "Keep It Playa" with Slim Thug (this one has a great hook); "That Girl" featuring Snoop Dogg; "Young Girl" with Jay-Z; and the last track "Show You How to Hustle" featuring Lauren, where he goes by his rap name Skateboard P.

As if that weren't enough, fans of "The Artist Formerly known as Prince" will absolutely love "Baby" featuring Nelly, and for a nice spiritual touch, Pharrell gives a shout out to the Almighty giving thanks for his talents.

Do you really need more reasons than these to get this album?

- Thank You...

...for one of the most original hip hop albums of recent years. I can't stop listening to this back to back. Very refreshing sounds and lyrics. Since this whole 'dirty south' shoulder lean bulls**t movement has been disturbing our frequencies, its nice to hear some melody back in hip hop music. HIP HOP IS NOT ABOUT BEING GANGSTA!!! It's about actually expressing something to your audience... 10/10

- Please only work on other peoples stuff

This album is terrible. While there are some very promising beats, Skateboard-P has a terrible flow, and his lyrics are a complete joke. Therefore you have all these songs that would have some potential if only someone else was rapping over them. Much like the cover art, a lot of the tracks here come across as cartoonish, and you just cant take them seriously. Go buy the Clipse album "Hell Hath no Fury" to hear what a Neptunes produced album with talented rappers sounds like.

- Yessiiirrrr!!!!

Pharell delivers on his first true solo album In My Mind. I admit I had doubts about this album because of weak previous efforts such as the god-awful N.E.R.D. - Fly Or Die, the spotty Clones, and the worst Gangsta Grillz Mixtape in history BBC. Needless to say I wasn't too excited about hearing Pharell for an album by himself...especially rapping. Among that mixtape I heard the first song Can I Have It Like That ft. Gwen Stefani and it didn't move me at all. His second single Number One was the song that sprung me. The song was complete hotness. I decided to pick up the album...and the rest as they say is history.

The beats on this album are amazing, simply put. It's ridin all the way through. Pharell does a fairly nice job singing, if you like his style of singing. No he's not Luther Vandross, but he isn't the male version of Macy Gray either. He also does a nice job rapping as well managing to keep the listener interested unlike his Gangsta Grillz mixtape where it seemed like every verse was wackness. The guests are top notch including Snoop Dogg, JayZ, Nelly, Slim Thug, Pusha T of the Clipse, and Kanye West. I like pretty much every song save for Can I Have It Like That but my favorites are That Girl, Angel, Young Girl/I Really Like You, Stay With Me, Number One, Best Friend, and How Does It Feel.

All in All Pharell doesn't disappoint on this album and it has undeniable enjoyable grooves on it. Pick it up ASAP...it's one of the best albums of the year.

- Are you Pha-real Pharell???

This album reminds me of the situation of a genius that eventually goes off the deep end. "Chaos" is the perfect word to describe this album. If Pharell wants to save face, he should stop telling people that he constantly pushed the release date back to continue to rework the album to make it better. Accept it as a mistake and let's get the next product out there. I couldn't be more dissapointed.
