- Serious music
This is one of my absolute favourites of the Pet Shop Boys extended single releases, for two particular tracks.

The song 'How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously' certainly is a mouthful, and is one of the not-so-popular hits of the Pet Shop Boys. When the songs were selected for Discography, the first 'greatest hits' compilation of the Pet Shop Boys, this song was left out, ostensibly due to lack of time (the video was included in the video collection, Videography). This song is in large part a commentary on pop-stardom, and the propensity for pop stars to present themselves as experts in other areas because of their fame. There are three versions of this song - the album version, the 'perfect attitude' mix, and then a classical reprise, which really had a strong jazz element to it. This is one of my favourite tracks in all of Pet Shop Boys recording.

The other three tracks on the single include remixes of 'It's Alright', the Sterling Void song that appeared on the album 'Introspective', and 'We All Feel Better in the Dark', a b-side that appeared on 'Alternative'. These are both worthwhile tracks.

The third of these tracks is another of my favourites from the Pet Shop Boys, an extended mix of their hit, 'Being Boring' from the 'Behaviour' album, never released as a single in the United States, but was released elsewhere in the world; this mix appears on single versions of that song in other countries, but for mainstream American audiences, this was the first (and only) opportunity to have this song. Harold Faltermeyer (Miami Vice fame, among other productions) and Julian Mendelsohn both had a hand in this track, too.

This is an extended single disc to be taken seriously.

- One of a kind single...
The songs are really good...but the instrumental one named Seriously [Classical Reprise] is the best.
If you are a fan of the good music, this is for you.

- cute enough
I like the original song, so the mixes are okay with me. However, that's it: they're just okay. None makes me shake my butt in my seat. In fact, they all sound a bit too much alike. The B-side "...in the Dark" is obviously about sex and is very sex. When they performed it in concert in 1991, the crowd went WILD! The "Being Boring" mix is excellent. It's here because it was not a single in the US, unlike in the United Kingdom. Hardcore Petheads may get two copies of this disc because they issued it with different covers.
