- Different, but still the same ole' Mike Kinsella

First off, let me start off by saying this album is different from all of Owen's other efforts. More upbeat, corkier vocals, and a wider variety of musical ranges are spread throughout this album. This doesn't, however, take away Owen's "sing me to sleep"-esque qualities.

Leaning more toward the folk side of music this time around, this album start's off terrificly with "Who Found Who's Hair In Who's Bed" which within 30 second's of the song you realize that this is something different than their previous efforts. And after this song, the entire album just flows by, around, and through you. This album could easily be the soundtrack to this Winter.

I Do Perceive is the friendliest album to date by Mike Kinsella & co. If you're looking for something with a laid-back vocal style and dreamy music to whisk you away for the Winter, this album will prove to be amazing.

- Great buy.

Great listen. All of the music is very slow and easy. There are few tracks but all tracks are pretty long. A great CD to chill out with. If you like good music, and who doesn't? and you're not too high-strung, give it a try.

- Deathcab for Brainy

3 1/2 stars

Progressively mellow songwriting elevates the usually emo-like lyrics as indie superstar Mike Kinsella's continual refinement of sounds continues. Fans of Deathcab owe themselves a look into this band's work, which offers a more complex version of that type of sound, guided through with controlled acoustic excellence.

- Another Classic

Kinsella has done it again. Here he has crafted another 8 beautiful gems. I wouldn't say that this album is really a departure from any of the previous owen albums however. He sticks to the same tried and true songwriting skills that have always worked for him, and adds a few various production techniques that haven't been on his previous efforts, however, it works out beautifully. If you are a fan of any of his previous work, definatly pick up this one.

Standouts include:

- Bed Abuse, excellent drums, possibly the most infectious outro ever, the guitar line was stuck in my head for days.

- Lights Out, great harmony you'd expect from Mike, simple yet effective lyrics, huge dynamic shifts

- Playing Possum for a Peed, I don't know why but this is one of my favorite songs ever.. i can't quite put my finger on what it is about this song, but just listen and you'll see.

All in all, a great album, If you are a fan of any of his previous work, definatly pick up this one.
