- redundant for fans, but you can't argue with this
By the time of the UK single release of "Wonderwall", Oasis were very much making it clear that they were a no-nonsense band when it came to b-sides with Noel Gallagher having a seemingly bottomless supply of terrific songs to unload. The thing though was that the b-sides, in general, were only being released in the UK. That said, this "Wonderwall" EP which was released in the US was a great bargain. Of course, it's got the classic title track from "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?". In addition to this, it gives a taste of their excellence when it comes to b-sides--"Round Are Way", with its bluesy harmonica and horns, is a rousing feel-good tune which is also on the UK "Wonderwall" single; "Talk Tonight" is a tender acoustic ballad sung by Noel from the UK "Some Might Say" single; "Rockin' Chair" is a yearning mid-tempo pop-rocker from the UK "Roll With It" single; & the disc ends with the smoking live cover of "I Am The Walrus" from the UK "Cigarettes & Alcohol" single. All that said, for any serious Oasis fan who already owned all the UK singles, this is basically a redundant release. Additionally, "Talk Tonight", "Rockin' Chair", & "I Am The Walrus" all turned up on the 1998 b-sides collection "The Masterplan", although the latter track was apparently edited. Still, this 5 track EP offered about a half hour's worth of superb music, and I believe the list price was $6.49 which made it a great deal, and additionally, it perhaps served the useful purpose of making people realize Oasis had a LOT more to offer than just what was on the actual albums. I also want to point out a couple things that TOTAL diehard fans will notice--the version of "Talk Tonight" on here features someone (Noel?) making a comment regarding batteries that doesn't appear on the UK "Some Might Say" version (!); also, the version of "Rockin' Chair" on here just starts as opposed to fading in the way it does on the UK "Roll With It" single.

- Can't go wrong with this one
I first heard these tracks while browsing in a Musicland store in the mid-90's; picked up the disc and brought it home the same day.

If you can think of an album as a novel, then this is one heck of a good novella--short but incredible.

Wonderwall - you've likely heard already. Good song.

Round Are Way - plays over the credits of "A Life Less Ordinary," and oddly left off that movie's soundtrack. Great, powerful track.

Talk Tonight - Quiet, acoustic... full of something like loneliness but, I wouldn't call it a depressing song. Just much more mellow. Lyrically and musically, I like it.

Rockin' Chair - somewhere inbetween the tempo & sound of Round Are Way and Talk Tonight is this little number. Another beautiful performance. Listen to me, lol. I don't even own any other Oasis albums. But this little collection just stuck with me.

I Am The Walrus - I heard this version before I ever heard the Beatles' original. This performance is epic--pure electric guitar madness. It seems to go on forever, looping and vibrating like some great machine busting its gears. Just fantastic.

You won't regret this. Get a copy. (Hey Amazon--you should be paying me for this kind of endorsement, ya know that?)

signed,

A Music Lover
