Nirvana was an American rock band formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain in 1987. With the lead single “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from their 1991 album «Nevermind», Nirvana entered into the mainstream, bringing along with it a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge. Nirvana's brief run ended with Cobain's death in April 1994, he was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted shotgun blast to the head at his Seattle home.
